We are assisting our client in expanding their team and seeking a Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Lead to manage safety and environmental performance across their mining operations in California. Role OverviewAs HSE Lead, you will be responsible for the development, implementation, and oversight of all health, safety, and environmental programs across the site. You will work closely with operations and leadership teams to ensure compliance, reduce risk, and foster a culture of safety excellence.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the implementation of HSE strategies, policies, and procedures across all site activities.
- Ensure full compliance with MSHA and OSHA regulations and reporting requirements.
- Conduct regular field inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify hazards and drive corrective actions.
- Oversee incident investigations, root cause analysis, and implementation of preventive measures.
- Provide HSE training, coaching, and mentorship to site personnel and contractors.
- Manage environmental compliance programs, including air, water, and waste management.
- Maintain accurate records and prepare regulatory reports in accordance with federal, state, and local requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate HSE best practices into operational planning and execution.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies and external stakeholders on HSE matters.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement in health, safety, and environmental performance.
- Bachelors degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of HSE experience, with at least 2 years in mining or heavy industrial environments.
- Working knowledge of MSHA and OSHA regulations.
- Proven field experience in managing HSE programs on active mine sites.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams, influence culture, and drive compliance.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Professional certifications (e.g., CSP, CIH, CHMM) are considered an asset.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
- Must be eligible to work in the United States and willing to be based at or travel frequently to the project site.
Compensation: $100,000 - $120,000 annual base salary. The anticipated salary range may vary based on skills, experience, qualifications, and internal peer equity. This range reflects the expected base compensation at the time of posting and does not include potential bonuses, commissions, benefits, or other forms of compensation.

Technical Excellence

Commercial Growth & Client Engagement
- Collaborate with Sales Directors, Partners, and Project Managers to maintain and grow the mining certification business through strategic client engagement and market development.
- Lead commercial conversations, develop compelling value propositions, and support proposal development and contract negotiations.

Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Finance, Environmental Science, or a related sustainability field. Master’s is a plus.

Job Summary
Intent for the position to be a site-based asset to Industrial Preconstruction team by providing on-site presence to develop accurate estimates in a rapidly changing environment. Field Estimator I and II titles are developmental positions within the on-site construction team. The EI/EII provides support for single large projects or multiple smaller projects. Primary duties include participation in bid efforts, working with teams on Design Build and CM at Risk delivery methods, and providing administrative support to the construction project team. The EI/EII is expected to be competent in basic estimating tasks and is developing an understanding of more advanced estimating principals including conceptual estimating, project logistics, and indirect costs.
Key Responsibilities
 1. Accurately performs quantity takeoff from both drawings and field data.
 2. Travel to various projects to attend bid walks with operations personnel to gather field data. 
 3. Assists in the pricing of project logistics, including hoisting, personnel lifts, and temporary construction elements. 
 4. Develops abstracts and competently evaluates basic trade bids. 
 5. Develops basic understanding of indirect costs, including insurance, taxes, and fees. 
 6. Develops pricing for basic project elements and assists in the preparation of key estimating deliverables. 
 7. Provides document control (sublists, distribution of plans, addenda, etc.) for assigned projects.

 9. Supports conceptual estimating efforts within the department, including development of basic models for review by senior personnel. 
 10. With oversight from senior personnel, develops budget uploads, purchasing plans and coordinates schedule breakout in P6.
 11. Assists Project Engineer in developing and maintaining as-built drawings and other work tasks and assists with or reviews and processes submittals, change orders, RFI's, and budget forecasting. Ensures the timely and appropriate generation, collection, distribution, storage, retrieval and ultimate disposition of meeting agendas, RFI's and daily reports. 
 12. Demonstrates an understanding of the project management plan (PMP) and is involved in support and execution of the plan. Demonstrates a thorough understanding of the change management process and performs project scope activities and supports the project team to ensure the work needed to complete the project successfully. 
 13. May assist in the calculation of daily production rates and unit costs for self-performed work. Participates in risk management including identification, analysis, response planning and monitoring and control on a project and demonstrates competency in understanding the environmental control processes for the project and takes corrective actions when necessary. 
 14. May be responsible for overseeing/managing the BIM (Building Information Modeling) Coordination between Subcontractors and Designers. 
 15. May provide the following weekly quantities: maintains accurate quantity logs and reports quantities in compliance with the cost control manual. Completed logs are to be filed with the project files. Perform elements of the processes involved in budgeting and controlling costs so that the project can be completed within the approved budget. Demonstrates business acumen within area of responsibility. (Not all Field Engineers track quantities)
Minimum Job Requirements
1. Experience levels for positions are as follows:
a. Estimator I: 1-3 years of experience.
 b. Estimator II: 2-5 years of experience. 
2. Four-year engineering degree or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or related experience. 
3. Proficient use of all Microsoft Office Suite programs.
