**Summary**
The College of Engineering and Applied Science at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs hires **Lecturers** in **Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering** for temporary, non-tenure track positions to fill open sections of courses across the curriculum. Appointments are part-time (usually less than 50% time) and will be made semester-by-semester.
Lecturers will teach classes for the department of department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. Classes may be on-campus, online, or hybrid. Courses may be at either graduate or undergraduate levels and can cover any of the broad spectrum of topic areas in both mechanical engineering and aerospace engineering.
**Essential Functions**
The duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
+ Provide instruction to undergraduate/graduate students based on course modality including class and/or lab preparation, administering exams, grading, and maintaining office hours.
+ Maintain, develop and schedule student learning experiences to achieve desired learning outcomes.

We are generating an applicant pool of qualified temporary instructors to teach regular and Summer Session courses, should an opening arise. In addition to lecturing responsibilities, general duties for these positions include laboratory teaching, holding regular office hours, assigning grades, advising students, and preparing course materials and exams.
We are also seeking applicants for Teacher Special Programs (TSP), should an opening arise. TSP instructors will be responsible for overseeing capstone projects in the Master of Engineering (MEng) program in the Department Mechanical Engineering. This includes: design and propose capstone projects and help match students into suitable projects. Meet with each capstone project team on a regular basis to review results, manage interpersonal aspects, and maintain efficient progress. Provide critical, constructive feedback on students' written reports and oral presentations. Coordinating and participating in the MS Plan II exam of each student at the end of the capstone project period. This pool encompasses engineering science and technology specializations relevant to both mechanical engineering and aerospace engineering.

- Review development plans for compliance with adopted engineering standards and good engineering practices.
- Coordinate activities between the design and manufacturing teams.
- Determine the disposition of non-conforming products in accordance with the quality management system.
- Serve on planning and policy-making committees.
- Review, update, and approve engineering-related quality policies in accordance with AS9100 and support accreditation audits as required.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (minimum) and three to five years of aerospace engineering experience.
- Exceptional management and project management skills.
- Proficiency in advanced math and 2D/3D design software.
- Ability to understand abstract principles behind math and physics.
- Working knowledge of engineering CAD/CAM tools used in the aerospace industry.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule.
- Ability to travel between company locations and customers in the USA, with occasional international travel during project execution.
- Occasional evening and weekend work and management responsibilities.
