Job Description

Beacon Behavioral is one of the largest and most established behavioral health programs in Louisiana. For over 25 years, Beacon employs caring staff at locations across southeast Louisiana: Baton Rouge, New Orleans, Metairie, Alexandria, Slidell, Hammond, Bogalusa, Bunkie, Opelousas, and Lutcher. We currently provide inpatient programs, residential, intensive outpatient programs (IOP) and traditional outpatient programs that provide therapy to those struggling with emotional disorders, substance abuse, and mental disorders. Our IOP in Baton Rouge is searching for a transportation team member who can provide our clients safely to and from our programs. This is a Full Time Position with hours primarily Monday thru Friday, 8AM - 5PM and Driver' s as needed, PRN.

(Schedule may vary based on client and clinic needs).

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school graduate or G.E.D. required.
  • One year experience in a mental health care setting preferred (preferably as a Mental Health Technician or Certified Nursing Assistant)
  • One year experience with passenger transportation.
  • Appropriate education in a mental health related field might be substituted for experience.
  • Chauffeur's license.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
  • Demonstrates teamwork by carrying out routine and assigned tasks within the Beacon Hospital program.
  • Assists in provision of maintaining a safe and therapeutic milieu by monitoring compliance with program rules, providing assistance with security and supportive manpower by assisting in control of patients who exhibit unacceptable behavior.
  • Transports clients to and from the facility and their place of residence.
  • Maintains a current chauffeur's license.
  • Maintains the company vehicle in good working condition by scheduling routine maintenance, as well as keeping the vehicle clean and free from clutter and trash.
  • Documents vehicle maintenance on daily and monthly checklists.
  • Develops appropriate rapport with clients in order to gain trust and facilitate communication between driver and client.
  • Develops appropriate rapport with client's caregivers in order to obtain pertinent information on client's status.

General Summary of Position: The responsibility of the Packager is to assist in the handling, assembly and production of the newspaper and its various components by being able to perform in various assigned positions.

Primary Responsibilities and Essential Duties :

A. Packager Duties

  1. Turns on and sets up stackers to accommodate the appropriate bundle size and page count.
  2. Turns on bottom wraps and is ready to change roll when necessary.
  3. Turns on and sets up Schur Palletizing System and be able to navigate through series of PLC controls, setting the machine up for the appropriate mode of operation “Local or Remote,” operating machine in a manual mode when necessary.
  4. Replenishes stretch film and cardboard when necessary.
  5. Works in palletizing cell during production, monitoring its functionality, and corrects errors such as: Lost Slip Sheet, Row Errors, etc.
  6. Monitors bundle quality and counts; Removes damaged product as necessary.
  7. Clears jams from stacker by removing and replacing bundle guides and re-start equipment
  8. Clears jams from strapper, thread strap and restarts equipment.
  9. Removes and labels completed product from palletizing system ensuring correct product and bundle count before dispatching to circulation.
  10. Prepares preprints by removing damaged product and jogging them for placement into the feeder for insertion into the paper
  11. Loads preprinted material into feeders at minimum rate of 8,000 pages per feeder minute which may require loading multiple feeders depending of the page count of the preprints.
  12. Clears feeder jams when they occur by opening the door, removing the jam, and re-starting the machine.
  13. Catches, jogs and neatly stacks inserted packages on pallets for later insertion into the newspaper.
  14. Catches, jogs and neatly stacks papers from the press on pallets for later processing.
  15. Empties papers that fall into the reject bin at the miss station – corrects papers by adding or removing inserts that may have doubled or by pulling all inserts out.
  16. Assists in overall cleaning of the department as well as immediate assigned area to ensure a safe working environment.

B. Other

  1. Performs all other duties as specified by supervisor

Certifications

Job Duties

  • Enables clinic operations by effectively managing the patient flow in and out of exam rooms.

  • Assesses situations, considers alternatives and chooses appropriate course of action especially in times of need or emergencies.
  • Completes all logs, worksheets and paperwork accurately.
  • Maintains exam rooms and equipment assuring a safe and clean working environment, adhering to OSHA standards.
  • Maintains annual regulatory/clinical requirements and documentation per policy (i.e., annual in-service, CPR, TB testing, etc.)
  • Provides care based on physical, psycho/social, educational, safety and related criteria appropriate to the age of patients in assigned area.
  • Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.

  • Perform physical examination and establish medical history to determine donor suitability

Job Requirements

Educated and currently certified/licensed in the state of employment and according to state requirements as a Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse, Licensed Vocation Nurse, Paramedic, or EMT. Current CPR certification required.

-Performs a wide range of tasks as dictated by variable demands and changing conditions.

-Relates sensitive information to diverse groups. Work is performed in a plasma center.

-Exposure to biological fluids with potential exposure to infectious organisms.

-Exposure to electrical office and laboratory equipment.

-Exposure to extreme cold below 32 degrees F while performing functions in plasma freezers. Personal protective equipment required such as protective eyewear, garments, gloves and cold-gear.
