**Job Summary**
Under our Diagnostics division's Manufacturing Operations group, the Molecular Biologist is responsible for the manufacture of bulk clinical and commercial kit reagents and for sub-assembly formulation, raw material prep and/or processing. Actively participate in transfer and support activities and continuous improvement on the existing processes. May be assigned to one or more functional areas in Operations.
This is a fully onsite position based out of our San Diego, CA campus.
**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**
+ Oversees and leads the daily operation activities of the BSL2/BLS3 laboratories.
+ Creates weekly production schedule including product support and transfer activities.
+ Able to perform 80% of mfg. activities in Production Microbiology and TPZ departments.
+ Provides and tracks department training.
+ Attends weekly production planning, support and transfer meetings, as required.
+ Writes monthly production reports.
+ Originates moderate to complex ECO/SCOs with no assistance.
+ Perform/execute complex NCE Investigations, implementing and training others on root cause analysis and test plan tools
+ May represent group at MRB.
+ Creates/revises production task lists and BOM lists to support Operations.
+ May reviews manufacturing documentation, including development and notebook studies for operations.
+ Participates in FDA, ISO lab audits and performs BSL3 audits.
+ May represent group as extended core team member on one or more core teams or on other teams.
+ Interfaces with R&D to learn new process and transfers knowledge to department. Reviews and approves process transfer reports, as required.
+ Performs feasibility studies and assists in creating project plans.
+ Participates in Continuous Improvement from inception to completion.
+ Cross-train in other areas of mfg. & operations.
+ Oversees the execution of validation protocols for mfg. equipment and generates reports.
+ May perform ECO assessments.
+ Performs doc. owner activities for department.
**Required Education and Qualifications**
+ Bachelor's of Science in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology or relevant field, with a minimum of 3-5 years of related experience, ideally in GMP/GDP/GLP environment
+ Knowledge of Microbiology/Molecular and Chemistry.
+ Working knowledge of laboratory safety and record keeping.
+ Strong mathematics skills.
+ Knowledge of ERP.
+ Knowledge of GMP/GLP, ISO and CDC Safety Regulations Blood Borne Pathogen Training

The annualized base salary range for this role is $69,000 - $100,500 and is bonus eligible. Final compensation packages will ultimately depend on factors including relevant experience, skillset, knowledge, geography, education, business needs and market demand.

POSITION OVERVIEW SECTION
The employee will provide laboratory, technical, and research support to biomedical and public health scientists in the development and execution of research initiatives related to aeromedical risk. Responsibilities include molecular biology techniques, genomic analysis, environmental sampling, and supporting scientific documentation and regulatory processes.
Essential Job Functions
Laboratory & Experimental Support
- Assist biological and medical scientists in laboratories, et up, operate, and maintain lab instruments and equipment.
- Monitor experiments, record data, and analyze results in coordination with scientists.
- Perform environmental sampling (e.g., wastewater, air, soil), handling, and processing of samples.
Molecular Biology & Genomic Testing
- Perform DNA extraction, PCR, microarray genotyping, and next-generation sequencing (NGS).
- Utilize sequencing platforms such as Illumina and Oxford Nanopore for sample processing and library preparation.
- Assist with optimizing and executing genetic testing protocols relevant to aeromedical risk.
Research & Scientific Writing
- Review scientific literature to support ongoing research.
- Assist in designing experiments, protocol training, and conducting data analysis.
- Contribute to writing and editing research proposals, reports, presentations, and peer-reviewed publications.
Regulatory & Administrative Support
- Assist in preparing and submitting Institutional Review Board (IRB) and Biosafety Committee documentation.
- Support the development of project-related reports and documentation under the direction of PHT staff.
- Maintain general laboratory functionality including waste management and cleanliness.
Qualifications
Minimum Position Requirements
- Education & Experience
- Master's degree in Biological Sciences, Public Health, or a related field.
- At least 1–2 years of experience in a public health-related laboratory environment.
- Technical Competencies
- Proficient in core biology techniques including microscopy, cell culture, DNA/RNA prep, PCR, and sequencing.
- Experience with Illumina and Oxford Nanopore sequencing technologies and associated library prep protocols.
- Experience with environmental sample collection (wastewater, soil, air).
- Compliance
- Must have a signed NDA on file with employer and provided to the Program Manager to protect confidential or sensitive information.
Highly Desired Qualifications:
- At least 2 years of laboratory experience, particularly in a biomedical or public health setting.

The Postdoctoral Associate will conduct research to elucidate the mechanisms and regulation of homologous recombinationduring meiosis. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
RESEARCH AND TRAINING(85%)
Research Activity(70%)
The candidate will make original, creative, and fundamentalcontributions to research projects in meiotic recombination. Thiswill be done in close collaboration and consultation with Dr. Hunter, members of his laboratory, and outside collaborators. The candidate will be responsible for project development and implementation,including experimental design, coordination with collaborators and contractors,data reduction and final report. They will supervise students andtechniciansand guide them ontechniques and methodology, the proper use of equipment, interpretation of results, troubleshooting, and developing future directions.
Specifically, the candidate will work in one or more of the following areas:
a. Mechanism of meiotic recombination in particular the maturation and resolution of double Holliday junctions.
b. Regulation of meiotic recombination by protein modification.
c. Gamete quality and the influence of intrinsic andextrinsic factors, including sex, aging, obesity and environmentalcontaminants.
Publications(10%)
The candidate will publish research results in peer-reviewedjournals, books and other forums either independently or in collaboration withthe P.I. orother members of the research team.
Grant Acquisition (5%)
The candidate will assist in securing project funding byresearching, writing and editing grant requests and progress reports incollaboration with the P.I.
PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCE (10%)
The candidate will participate in relevant conferences, and thereview of research proposals and scientific publications as appropriate. Projectresults willbe presented at seminars, meetings and conferences in universities and other public forums.
UNIVERSITY AND PUBLICSERVICE (5%)
The candidate will engage in universityservice activities such as guest lecturing and committee service. They willalso help the PI supervisejunior researchers.
Qualifications
Education
A Ph.D. in biochemistry, proteomics, cell biology, or molecular genetics is required.
Experience
We are looking for candidates with experience managing an independent research project to completion and publication. Experience with a variety of relevant scientific techniques is strongly preferred.
