Responsibilities:

Del Monte Foods is seeking applications for Equipment Operator/Forklift Driver employment at their Rochelle, Illinois facility.

  • Safety Statement: It is the responsibility of each employee to perform their work in a manner which will not endanger their own safety and will protect the health and safety of others and to cooperate and participate in the safety and health programs of the company.
  • Scope: This position holds equal responsibility as a label line equipment operator / checker II in both the Label Line Department and in the Distribution Department. Primary responsibility will be to break relieve the label line operators and when not on break relief, duties as assigned in both the Label Line Department and in the Distribution Department.
  • As a Label Line Equipment Operator (LLEO), this employee will safely operate the palletizer, label, depalletizer and casing machines while ensuring accuracy of all reports and paperwork related to the job duties.

Label Line Equipment Operator (LLEO)

  • Palletizer Machine: Monitor palletizer to ensure all product exiting has the correct labels and cartons. Adjust or report any mechanical problems to maintenance and management.
  • Label Machine: Check labels on cans periodically. Ensure labels match the product currently running. Pull damaged labels and cans off the line. Add hot melt glue to machine when needed. Ensure that the Tensor ID Vision System is turned on and operational.
  • Depalletizer Machine: On Line 1 and 2, collect dented cans for donation per protocol and throw away all others. Remove all swells, buckles, rust, and dented cans from pallet and dispose of correctly. Record all cans taken from the pallet on indirect labeling record.
  • Casing Machine: Replenish by keeping casing machine's carton in feed conveyor filled with cartons. Operator must ensure that the cartons are correctly oriented in the machine.
  • Communication: Keep open communication with stock controllers and supervisors to ensure the accuracy of documentation. Notify correct parties when changes occur.

    Documentation:

  • Palletizer Machine: Turn in all daily reports to the stock controller at the end of your shift. Record, change and ensue that the correct pallet tag information is input into the Brye Tag System in order to print the correct pallet tags.
  • Label Machine: Validate all documentation associated with the position and turn into office. Depalletizer Machine: Ensure/verify pallet tags with can codes. Document product start times and tag information on indirect label record. All tags must be turned in with indirect sheet when changing products or end of day. Properly scan each pallet tag to production in Red Prairie system.
  • Casing Machine: Accurately record and change the day code and Best By information for the case printer on each line.
  • Changeover Duties:

  • Palletizer Machine: Operator is responsible for performing changeover duties for palletizer machine including but not limited to safely entering machine to clear cans and other foreign material as well as cleaning surrounding area to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Label Machine: Operator is responsible for performing changeover duties for labeling machine including but not limited to utilizing lock out tag out procedures, safely entering machine to clear cans, labels, or glue, Operator is expected to maintain customary good housekeeping and safety practices in the performance of work assignments.
  • Depalletizer Machine: Operator is responsible for performing changeover duties for depalletizer machine including but not limited to utilizing lock out tag out procedures, safely entering machine to clear cans and other foreign material as well as cleaning surrounding area to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Casing Machine: Operator is responsible for performing changeover duties for caser machine including but not limited to utilizing lock out tag out procedures, safely entering machine to change and adjust machine parts, replenish glue pots, cleaning surrounding area to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Equipment: Palletizer, label, depalletizer, casing machines, any newly added equipment and any components associated with Labeling and Distribution.

    Safety, Housekeeping, Security: Maintain a clean, neat and orderly work area. Assist in maintaining the security of the warehouse. Conduct operations in a manner that promotes safety. Comply with OSHA and other appropriate standards.

  • Forklift Driver (Checker II)

  • The responsibility of this position is to safely operate a powered industrial lift truck. Checker II drivers are responsible for several areas within the distribution center (DC) including but not limited to warehouse stacking, communication, documentation, and reporting duties associated with the related job duties. Employee is to remain in compliance with all approved / applicable safety rules, good manufacturing practices and engineered labor standards while working in the DC facility.
  • Set Up: Set up and load rail/truck shipments using proper standard operating procedures and standard loading procedures. Operator is responsible for setting up stock for label line positions.
  • Qualifications for the LLEO / Driver:

  • Education (Preferred Level): High School Diploma or GED.
  • Experience: Any equivalent combination of experience and education will be considered.
  • Special Requirements: Must have basic proficiency in reading, writing, math, and computer skills. Must be able to lift 50 pounds. Must be able to work in a quick paced environment, while working well with others and promoting a positive attitude. Powered industrial lift truck certification.
  • Equipment: Operate platen push-pull lift truck equipment when required.
  • Shipping: Responsible for activities related to the shipping office window directing carriers and processing paperwork on as as-needed basis. Responsible for proper bracing and sealing of the load.
  • Inventory: Responsible for maintaining the stock locator system.
  • Communication: Maintain open communication with supervisors and employees on any changes that may occur while on task.
  • Safety, Housekeeping, Security: Maintain a clean, neat and orderly work area. Assist in maintaining the security of the warehouse. Conduct operations in a manner that promotes safety. Comply with OSHA and other appropriate standards.

About the Role

As a Material Handler Forklift Driver at AESC, you will be an integral part of the Supply Chain (Logistics) team.   • Load bag machines with cartons / twine / pallets
  • Waste removal / bins / cardboard to baler area. Take out trash
  • Keep floor supplied with paste / hotmelt / rags
  • Remove scrap pallets / empty paste drums from floor
  • Bring finished goods pallets to warehouse, check for proper labeling, tickets and pallets
  • Assist supervisor and QC department with any non conformity items
  • Keep outside area by compactor and trash, clean and orderly
  • Make sure machines have proper pallets for orders, Grade A or B
  • Keep warehouse clean and orderly
  • Other duties as assigned.
Skills/Qualities Required
  • 2 years' experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment preferred.
  • Forklift experience required.
  • Inventory / Warehouse Management System software experience preferred.
  • Ability to work independently as needed and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to meet changing needs of business i.e., job responsibilities, work hours, back-up, etc.
  • Must be able to adhere to company policy, safety rules and regulations, and wear PPE

Shift : Monday-Friday 5pm-5am
Wage rate $22.00 per hour

As a Forklift Driver/Material Handler at Caterpillar, you will perform a variety of functions to check, receive, verify accuracy of our prime product. You will check, store, disburse or fill orders for parts, materials, tools, equipment and supplies. You will also work with various source documents to verify the accuracy and conditions of parts.
**Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:**
* Work in an environment with frequently changing temperatures, and walk, squat, and bend over for intervals at a time
* Maintain and report daily receiving and shipping activities
* Safely perform the material handling and warehousing functions required in the receiving, processing, storing, moving, packing, and shipping of parts, materials equipment and supplies.
* Perform related and/or specialized clerical duties and resolves discrepancies as required. Maintains related clerical records and operates computer terminal and/or hand held scanner to access and update information for receiving, counting and order processing.
* Performs housekeeping functions as required.
* Uses mobile equipment as required to facilitate job functions.
* Reports defects and need for repairs.
* Strong commitment to safety and teamwork.
**Basic Qualifications:**
* Prior experience of 1 year or more in a warehouse or similar environment
* Ability to obtain forklift driver certification
* Good communication skills

* Ability to perform a variety of warehouse functions and do basic math
* Previous forklift experience
*Previous inventory control experience

**Starting pay is $20.40 /hr + $.00 shift premium**

The Material Handler/Forklift Driver will be responsible for operating power equipment to move, locate, relocate, stack, load, unload, pick, and count merchandise while holding accountability for the safe and efficient operation of the equipment. 

Essential duties and responsibilities

  • Safe operation of a forklift truck in the movement and storage of product
  • Unload/load freight from trucks; weigh and label products by hand and by using a forklift
  • Ensure all materials required for production runs are staged at assigned work areas before the start of the production run
  • Enter product quantities into the computer
  • Inspect the product for consistency and ensure it is not contaminated
  • Communicate with Management, Production, & Quality Assurance about any discrepancies in product quality
  • Organize the warehouse and maintain a clean and safe work area
  • Store the received product properly for rotation purposes and inventory accuracy
  • Participate in physical inventory
  • Follow all safety procedures and work in an efficient manner
  • Cross-trained to work in other operational departments as needed
  • Audit all receipts and paperwork for correct items and quantities
  • Properly palletize all incoming freight
  • Inspect equipment used daily and fill out safety reports
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Min 1 year of Forklift (Reach, Cherry Picker, Stand-up) experience required
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
  • High School diploma or GED preferred
  • Must have a working knowledge of general warehouse operations, receiving and/or food industry experience a plus
  • Must be flexible with hours, a possibility for OT
  • Ability to lift up to 55lbs (anything over 55 lbs., team lift)
  • Must follow all WLF GMPs and work consistently with all food safety, quality, and sanitation requirements

  • Ability to read and write English
  • Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals

Job Summary


Use Forklift and/or Telehandler as well as carts to move signage and sign material in and out of the buildings.


Job Responsibilities

  • Delivery material such as large poly sheets, steel beams, pallets of lumber, etc. to each production department as needed.
  • Unloading heavy and unusual shaped freight & materials delivered on semi-trailers, straight trucks and cargo vans using a Forklift, Telehandler or pallet jack.
  • Loading flatbed & enclosed trucks/vans for shipment of signage products using a Forklift and/or Telehandler.
  • Ensure signs & components are secured on trucks in a manner that assures safe economical shipment and/or storage.
  • Responsible for moving signs in and out of facility.
  • Obtain weight & measurements of crates as well as documenting loads with photos.
  • Operate air staplers and nail guns.
  • Responsible to observe company safety rules and practices.
  • Responsible for maintaining assigned equipment, including but not limited inspections.
  • Maintain outside storage locations, sheds as well as the yard - including organizing and cleaning.
  • Responsible for proper placement of recyclable materials in the yard.
  • Responsible for maintaining regular attendance, working overtime or irregular work schedule as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
