GENERAL SUMMARY: The Talent Acquisition & HR Specialist will report to the Associate Director of Human Resources. This person is responsible for leading recruitment efforts while supporting a range of human resources functions across the organization. This dual-role position plays a critical part in ensuring a positive candidate and employee experience, aligning recruitment strategies with organizational goals, and supporting a healthy, inclusive workplace culture.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Promote a cooperative and respectful workplace culture by clearly communicating the mission of Phipps and the organization's management philosophy to all staff throughout their employment.
  2. Lead and manage full-cycle recruitment activities, including job postings, candidate sourcing, screening, interviewing, and offer coordination.
  3. Collaborate with hiring managers to evaluate staffing needs and develop effective, customized recruitment strategies.
  4. Ensure an inclusive, positive candidate experience from initial contact through onboarding, reflecting the values and culture of Phipps.
  5. Maintain and enhance the applicant tracking system (ATS); monitor recruitment metrics and generate hiring activity reports as needed.
  6. Represent the organization at job fairs, community events, and networking functions to promote Phipps as an employer of choice and develop diverse talent pipelines.
  7. Keep the Associate Director of Human Resources informed of staffing issues, employee relations, and other relevant personnel matters.
  8. Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records in compliance with organizational policies and applicable legal requirements.
  9. Support HR initiatives, including performance management, employee recognition programs, engagement surveys, and professional development efforts.
  10. Serve as a resource for employees by responding to inquiries related to policies, procedures, and benefits.
  11. Assist with daily HR operations, including policy review and updates, compliance tracking, and employee relations support.
  12. Contribute to organizational diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives, as well as employee wellness and engagement programs.
  13. Support the onboarding process by coordinating and conducting new hire orientations, ensuring a welcoming environment and timely fulfillment of equipment, uniforms, and supply needs.
  14. Maintain regular contact with new hires during their initial 60 days and ensure timely completion of 60-day performance evaluations.
  15. Assist with offboarding processes, ensuring all necessary documentation and procedures are completed prior to an employee's departure.
  16. Provide employees with required documentation related to FMLA, disability leave, and workers' compensation, ensuring compliance and timely communication.
  17. Oversee employee services and benefits programs, which may include training, wellness, employee assistance, recognition, and work-life initiatives.
  18. Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned to support departmental and organizational goals.

MINIMUM POSITION GUIDELINES (Education, Experience and Certification)
  1. Bachelor's degree.

  • Source candidates with utilizing search engines, career sites, recruiting events, and other innovative sourcing techniques to find the best talent in the market
  • Directly contact candidates via phone, email, and messaging platforms to introduce job opportunities and assess qualifications.
  • Build strong talent pipelines through sourcing on job boards, social media, networking, and direct outreach for warehouse, transportation, freight, and supply chain positions.
  • Screen candidates for basic logistics skills, work experience, and interest before passing them to recruiters.
  • Keep the Applicant Tracking System (ATS) updated with accurate candidate records and sourcing activity.
  • Track sourcing progress, outreach response rates, and provide regular updates to the recruiting team.
  • Support employer branding efforts in the logistics community by attending industry events, job fairs, and networking activities.
  • Collaborate with the recruiting team to improve sourcing strategies and candidate engagement.
  • Perform other recruiting support tasks as needed.

Contract Period: 6 Months (+)

Salary: $26 - $32 /yr. (DOE)

Qualifications:
Qualifications

  • Bachelors’ Degree required
  • 2+ years of experience in recruiting, sourcing, or talent acquisition
  • Experience or knowledge of the logistics, warehouse, transportation, or supply chain industry preferred.
  • Strong research skills and ability to use sourcing tools (LinkedIn Recruiter, Indeed Resume Search, etc.).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly organized with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple searches at once.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Applicant Tracking Systems is a plus.
  • Positive, proactive, and team-oriented mindset.
  • May require occasional travel for logistics industry job fairs or recruiting events.

Summary
The HR Business Partner-Talent Acquisition will be responsible for providing strategic direction and support in many functional areas of HR that support business success by providing solutions to employee-related matters, maintaining a balance between strategic business partner and employee champion as well as full cycle recruiting and onboarding for various corporate positions. This position will continuously challenge the status quo, understand big picture business goals as well as tactically execute a full range of people and culture initiatives.
Responsibilities
+ Develops strong, trusted partnerships with business leaders to understand, guide and advise on strategic business and people matters.
+ Provides coaching and guidance on people-related matters including talent assessment, development, organizational structure and planning and effectiveness.
+ Understands the talent market landscape and translates this understanding into actionable strategies to attract, develop, engage and retain talent. Learn and understand the positions and talent within D&H.
+ Execute full recruiting cycle from requisition submittal through the new hire's first 90 days.
+ Maintain recruiting database and spreadsheets and be able to analyze this information to make decisions to improve recruiting process.
+ Attend job/career fairs.
+ Partners with managers and talent acquisition resources ensuring we develop a diverse talent pipeline.
+ Co-leads the People First workforce planning, talent review and succession planning process with the business groups and ensures actionable plans are developed and executed for the organizations current and future talent needs.
+ Acts as point of contact for employee relations, which includes handling employee complaints, performing investigations, conflict resolution, and risk mitigation.
+ Partners with Learning & Development team to help design employee training and development programs that will improve skillsets and drive business growth.
+ Champions our People First culture by working closely with managers and employees to ensure positive working relationships, high morale and productivity and employee retention.
+ Design, monitor and measure KPIs that will facilitate change and drive key insights and decisions that support business growth and employee engagement.
+ Champions diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging and helps to drive our DEI&B initiatives.
+ Evaluates and executes priorities in a fast and ever-changing environment using an organized and focused approach.
Requirements
+ Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience 8+ years of experience in Human Resources with most in a corporate office work environment.
+ Proven ability to handle complex employee relations situations.
+ Strong knowledge of employment laws across the United States.
+ Identifies and leads change across the organization.
+ Exhibits sound judgment, attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
+ Well organized and ability to prioritize competing demands with accuracy, in a fast paced, deadline driven environment.
+ Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
+ Exceptional Excel skills and working knowledge of MS office.
+ Strong analytical, communication and interpersonal skills.
