Assistant Professor - Physics
**FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT**
The Physics Department at New York City College of Technology (City Tech), a comprehensive college of the City University of New York offering associate and baccalaureate degree programs, invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin Fall 2025.
We are the largest public college of technology in New York State and offer curricula that goes beyond traditional classes to create a high-tech, hands-on educational experience for our students and prepare them for a rapidly changing world. We have been recently designated as a "Research College or University" within the Carnegie Classifications of Institutions of Higher Education. The Physics Department has 12 full-time faculty members, engaged in cutting-edge research in high-energy physics, condensed matter physics, astrophysics, laser physics, quantum information, and climate data science. The Department offers a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Computational Physics, a Physics Academic Minor and houses a high-performance computing cluster for research and education purposes.
Reporting to the chairperson of the Department of Physics, the Assistant Professor will be expected to teach basic and advanced undergraduate physics courses within the Physics program, and to participate in curriculum development, advisement, and other service as needed to benefit the department, college and university. The faculty member will also be expected to support undergraduate and graduate students in research, and to pursue creative, scholarly, and professional activities while seeking opportunities for external grant funding. The department seeks a colleague who will work collaboratively with other faculty and staff and contribute positively to the department's climate.
**QUALIFICATIONS**
**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS**
Ph.D. degree in in Physics or a related discipline is required. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.
**PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS**
+ Candidates with backgrounds in high-energy physics and quantum physics and/or with emphasis on computational research, experience in numerical methods, and machine learning are especially encouraged to apply.
+ Research experience at the postdoctoral level, with an established record of publications and impact appropriate to career stage.
+ Teaching experience and enthusiasm for teaching students from a diverse population.
+ Interest in and potential for teaching computational courses in the Physics major.
**COMPENSATION**
$75,465 - $93,134. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
CUNY is in the process of implementing salary schedule increases. Once implemented, salaries of eligible employees will be adjusted by 6.09%, with additional increases of 3.25% effective 9/01/2025 and 3.5% effective 9/01/2026, in accordance with the terms of the PSC-CUNY collective bargaining agreement.

The Simons Center for Geometry and Physics at Stony Brook University seeks applications for one Tenured Professor position in Theoretical Physics; the candidate will also be a Tenured Professor at the YITP/Department of Physics and Astronomy. The Simons Center for Geometry and Physics has close ties with the C.N. + Monitoring air and water treatment systems.
+ Using smears to monitor for radioactive contamination.
+ Perform various testing procedures of samples to analyze the type and level ofradiation of each container.
+ Repair/calibrate automated laundry monitors as necessary.
