The Fortune Society, Inc. Fortune has grown steadily over the years to an agency just under 85 million in annual budget with just under 600 staff. We anticipate that we will keep growing, both in size and in depth of service. Fortune has a dual mission: both advocacy and service. The advocacy portion of our mission focuses on building a more just criminal legal system and reducing the barriers to reentry into society. The service side of Fortune has evolved to encompass a broad range of programs that started with employment and education and now includes a robust array of services, among them: alternatives to incarceration, supervised release, court advocacy, discharge planning within correctional facilities, licensed substance use and mental health treatment, a housing continuum ranging from emergency and transitional through permanent congregate and scattered site housing, assistance in obtaining benefits, a care management unit, HIV services, a food and nutrition program, and an arts program. Each service we provide is informed by the needs of the population we serve. Fortune currently serves approximately 14,000 people a year. Our participant population mirrors the incarcerated population in being approximately 85% male and over 90% people of color. Position Summary:

Under the direct supervision of the Program Manager, Data, the Data Analyst (DA) supports Fortune Society's RISE, Education and Employment Services programs through evaluation and reporting of data related to service delivery and outcomes. The position involves identifying and determining data points for collection, working with IT and Evaluation and Quality Improvement (EQI) staff to insure data collection points are available within our internal database, conducting quality assurance exercise to ensure accurate data collection is occurring with program staff, entering data into funder databases, submitting reporting to external funders, generating routine and ad-hoc reports that supports the program by monitoring activities, contract performance and program milestones.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Directly, as well as through other relevant staff and interns, run reports and conduct ongoing internal and external analyses using the Agency's Client Record Management System (CRM) as well as various external contract databases for RISE, Education and Employment Services' related contracts and services;
  • Engage in process documentation, staff training, and regular quality assurance monitoring to ensure accuracy in performance outcomes documented in systems, in both agency and funder databases;
  • Advise the unit management team members of RISE, Education and Employment Services on performance relative to contract goals, required level of client service, focus on specific subpopulations (e.g., individuals who are unhoused), or activities (e.g., employment verification and job retention) in order to assist department, produce timely outcomes and achieve required rates and levels of performance;
  • Engage in data analysis and reporting, data visualization, research and evaluation, and development of appropriate qualitative and quantitative methodologies, including weekly performance outcome tracking reports;

  • Associate's degree in public health, human services, criminal justice, sociology or related field preferred with a strong background in statistical analysis and/or data management . Bachelor's or master's degree a plus;
  • Must have a thorough knowledge of Client Record Management (CRM) database systems, Microsoft Office, including Excel at an advanced level that includes the utilization of the Analysis Toolpak; including but not limited to intermediate/advanced knowledge of Index Match formulas, VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP and Pivot Tables.
  • A minimum of two years relevant work experience, preferably in a nonprofit social service setting;
  • Must be detail-oriented with superior quantitative and qualitative analytical skills. Ability to do "big picture" thinking and solve problems in a way that is creative and collaborative;
  • Excellent presentation, oral and written communication skills coupled with exceptional people skills;

The Data Analyst is a key member of NYPR’s Audience Team, bridging data engineering and analysis to power audience insights across the organization. This person will oversee the collection of data, prepare analysis-ready datasets, and create Tableau dashboards that inform decision-making across Programming, News, Membership, Development, Product, and Sponsorship teams.

You will have the opportunity to satisfy your curiosity by seeking connections between data created by live listening, on-demand downloads, engagement with websites and apps and revenue operations. As a result, you’ll be deeply embedded in the day-to-day work of cross-functional teams, helping NYPR understand how listeners engage with our journalism, storytelling, and programming, and where we can create more value, loyalty, and joy.

This person will report to the Dir, Audio Product, Analytics & Architecture.

Responsibilities:

  • Create clean, analysis-ready datasets that support dashboards and reporting for stakeholder teams.

  • Build and maintain Tableau dashboards that track KPIs and enable self-service access to audience and content insights.

  • Define and monitor core metrics related to audience engagement, retention and content performance.

  • Explore audience behavior and translate findings into clear, actionable insights for internal partners.

  • Work collaboratively with partners across the Programming, News, Membership, Development, Audience, and Sponsorship teams to align data tools with strategic goals.

  • Document pipeline logic, metric definitions, and data models to promote data literacy and shared understanding.

  • Drive a culture of data-informed decision-making, balancing rigor, accessibility, and storytelling.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrate experience in analytics, data engineering, or a hybrid analytics engineering role.

  • Strong SQL skills and experience working with AWS Redshift or other cloud-based data warehouses.

  • Comfortable with Python or another scripting language for automation and transformation tasks.

  • Built dashboards in Tableau (or a similar BI tool) and know how to design them for impact and usability.

  • Experience working with AWS services like Redshift, Lambda, S3, and managing data pipelines using custom scripts and scheduled queries.

  • Strong communicator who can translate complex data into clear insights for technical and non-technical audiences alike.

  • Curious about audience behavior and excited to help a mission-driven media organization grow its reach and deepen its relationship with listeners.

  • Bonus: experience working in media, journalism, or a nonprofit/membership-driven organization.

Additional Information

This is a full-time role with a salary range of $100,000 - 110,000, annually (plus a full benefits package). NYC Department of Finance (DOF) is responsible for administering the tax revenue laws of the city fairly, efficiently, and transparently to instill public confidence and encourage compliance while providing exceptional customer service.

The Tax Policy & Data Analytics Division reviews, analyzes, and evaluates existing and proposed policies and legislation that affect the Department of Finance and New York City in general. This includes analyzing the revenue and distributional impacts of proposed changes to the tax system, monitoring and reporting on tax and parking revenues, working with local and state public agencies and private sector interests to promote improved tax administration, and advising the commissioner, Executive Office, and the New York City Office of Management and Budget on revenue and budgetary issues. The Tax Policy and Data Analytics Division is also responsible for all modeling and data mining for DOF's Audit Division. Tax Policy also prepares briefing and position papers on tax policy and issues a variety of public reports and newsletters on tax-related issues.

Tax Policy's Long-Term Projects and Quality Control Unit seeks a Data Analyst, will report to the Senior Director, to assist in performing long term data-driven research projects using the Statistical Analysis System (SAS) to analyze various taxes, audits, and other data.

Duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

-Utilizing SAS to analyze mortgage recording data and produce tables for monthly report and the publication of the statistical profile of mortgage recording tax.
-Analysis of compliance issues based on datasets from Property, Exemption and Personal Income Tax.
-Assist with economic and statistical research such as gig economy and in the preparation of reports and ad-hoc queries or data requests using SAS, excel or other appropriate software and tools.
-Design and develop data models to support efficient data retrieval and analysis in Power BI.
-Lead the creation of interactive and visually compelling Power BI reports and dashboards to meet business requirements for the unit and the division.
-Presenting research findings to Senior Director and Assistant Commissioner on a regular basis.
-Mine large and complex datasets.
