**While the full salary range for the Community Service Specialist position is 23.11 - 34.68 hourly / 48,068.80 - 72,134.40 annually, the anticipated hiring range is 24.73 - 28.89 hourly / 51,438.40 - 60,091.21 annually. **
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
Under the general supervision of the Shift Sergeant or Deputies, this position will perform duties in support of the Sheriff's Office operations. This position will assist with routine, non-hazardous law enforcement duties for which a Deputy is not required. Community Service Specialists do not independently respond to in-progress crimes, past situations where there is a suspect, or volatile situations.
Duties
EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The following duty statements are illustrative of the essential function of the job and do not include other non-essential or marginal duties that may be required:
- Drives an agency vehicle and watches for suspicious behaviors, disabled vehicles, hazards, vandalism, or traffic accidents; respond to requests for assistance or information from the public.
- Takes phone calls concerning civil and criminal issues, furnishes information to the public and authorized law enforcement personnel.
- Assists motorists and advises the public of parking regulations and parking violation procedures; reports irregular circumstances to law enforcement staff.
- Conducts special studies and projects at the direction of Sheriff's Office Staff.
- Prepares unknown suspect Offense and/or Incident reports on any person coming to the Agency to speak with an officer; interviews victims and witnesses; completes the appropriate reports.

- Enters and retrieves confidential law enforcement information using various law enforcement databases and systems.
- Examines crime scenes to discover, preserve, photograph and collect physical evidence to include, having contact with the deceased and the deceased's family.
- Assists at scenes with evidence collection, entry into the INFORM RMS system, processing and storage of evidence as outlined in policy.
- Assists with crime scene control; receives and identifies evidence and lost/found property; maintains proper control and chain of custody; disposes of evidence and found property as directed.
- Handles abandoned vehicle calls, tagging them with a warning and coordinating a tow if necessary.
- Processes recovered stolen vehicles, to include obtaining evidence from the vehicle prior to being released to an owner or tow company. This often includes obtaining DNA from the primary driver.
- Collects and tabulates data associated with departmental operations; enters and retrieves computerized data.
- Handles animal control and cleanup after hours.
- Performs clerical duties, to include typing and filing.
- Completes reports and documents a wide variety of information on activities involving job duties.

The Cesar Chavez Foundation is a non-profit organization that serves low-income families in California, Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas through affordable housing and social service programs.
Under the direction of the Regional Program Coordinator, the Community Service Coordinator oversees the operations of the Si Se Puede Community Center programs and related activities. This position involves the use of judgment, supervisory ability, and skills in resident/community planning. The position requires implementing and supervising programs, classes and activities for effectiveness. The position requires supervision of residents, volunteers, and student interns. Community Service Coordinators are required to outreach to the community and establish partnership when needed.
THE RESPONSIBILITY:
- Maintain all ethical practices of the Cesar Chavez Foundation. by serving the community with character, integrity, dignity, and a high degree of professionalism
- Manage all Si Se Puede Community Center Programs, which consist of an Afterschool Program, Resident Social Services, Meal Distribution, Health and Wellness and Community Outreach
- Friendly, outgoing personality that establishes a welcoming environment within the facility for members and visitor
- Skill in maintaining record keeping and document retention systems and in compiling comprehensive reports
- Preferred - Have at least 48 units of college credit from a two-year accredited college or related experience in Education/Youth Development/Community Services
- Preferably bilingual
- Knowledge of MS Office (Word/Excel/Access) required
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment

Job Summary
Community Service Coordinators assist youth on probation with completing their community service hours by securing placement at various community non-profit sites. The Community Service Coordinator provides support to their designated probation office by providing regular updates, supervising youth completing service hours, tracking hours, site placements/reassignments, and managing the case until community service hours are completed. Completed community service hours could qualify toward restitution requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Develops community service work-sites for youth in accordance with federal, state, and local laws governing youth employment. Develops sites for youth to meet community service requirements on daily and weekly basis including special projects.
Interviews youth and families to determine work skills and maturity level. Matches youth with sites and/or special projects.
Provides youth and family orientation regarding community service requirements. Communicates expectations with community service site supervisor.
Monitors youth's community service activities through site visits, attendance checks, and direct consultation with community service site supervisor. Communicates activities directly to appropriate court staff.
Completes all administrative required reports as well as written or oral reports to probation staff, and/or immediate supervisor.
Oversees transport of youth to and from work sites in relation to work crews.
Instructs and directs youth regarding rules and behavior within the program and while driving the county-owned van to and from area work sites.
Inspects and reports any contraband or security problems regarding the youth to the manager and/or chain of command.
Collaborates with other Community Service Coordinators as needed.
Develops job sites and makes job placement referrals for youth in compliance with federal, state, and local laws regarding employment of youth. Provides job readiness workshops for youth.
Oversees Court Restitution Program.
Coordinates School Suspension Program.
Completes county-owned van travel logs and prepares written reports as required.
Performs any other job-related duties and responsibilities as required, including special assignments throughout the youth's involvement in the unit and assists manager as needed.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Has no direct supervisory responsibility for staff members.

Education and/or Experience

Must possess a valid driver's license and continuously maintain automobile insurance in compliance with state law, with a driving record acceptable to the Court's current policies.
Any position which requires operating a motor vehicle as an essential duty of responsibility of the position will be subject to a driving record check through the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles.
