Job Description
The Red Hat Consulting team is looking for an Ansible Automation Architect to join us remotely in the U.S. The primary responsibility of the Automation Architect is to passionately drive the adoption of Red Hat's Ansible Automation solution in our key enterprise accounts, government agencies, and service provider partners. Through in-person and remote interactions, the Automation Architect will win the trust and confidence of customer engineering, development, and operations teams by aligning their requirements and use cases with the functional capabilities of the solution.
The Automation Architect will also play a critical role in bringing together cross-functional teams from Red Hat's product business units, product engineering, support, sales, and professional services to meet the needs of our most demanding customers. The Automation Architect will act as a customer advocate with these organizations to architect the right solutions and to ensure that those solutions are implemented and supported in an innovative and reliable way. You won't be expected to know everything on day one, but your ability to learn new technology quickly will be essential.
This is a remote-based job that requires frequent travel to work alongside customers. Applicants can be located anywhere in the U.S. within close proximity to a primary airport.
**What You Will Do**
- Deliver successful discovery, analysis and design workshops for small to medium teams of both technical and non-technical backgrounds that shape and influence the customer's use cases and architecture design decisions
- Scope delivery projects and guiding customers through successful pilot and production deployments
- Design, create, and deliver content that enables the broader Red Hat organization to sell, service, and support our cloud solutions at scale
- Work closely with product business units, product engineering, consulting, support, and sales to ensure a world-class customer experience with Red Hat's products
- Contribute to the development of repeatable methodologies and tools designed to scale Red Hat's services capabilities, promote repeatable customer engagements, and lower delivery risk
- Demonstrate thought leadership in Devops community by producing world-class white papers, webinars; code contributions to relevant projects; and speaking at industry leading conferences
- Frequently travel to customer locations to work alongside leading financial services, retail, telecommunications, and institutional customers
After joining Red Hat, you will go through an intensive training program on advanced automation concepts, and Ansible Automation Platform components as it relates to automating IT technologies, DevOps, GitOps and how to seed deeper automation adoption with our customers. Here's how your skill set will evolve and what you'll learn during your first year in the role:
At 2 months, be prepared to join a project team by acquiring the following:
- Fundamental understanding of scalable, secure, and maintainable automation solution design principles, including common integration patterns, error handling strategies, and basic infrastructure considerations
- Deep working knowledge and practical experience with Ansible Automation Platform, including supported architectures, core components, and common integrations
- Practical experience with Red Hat's solutions and offerings
Within 6 months, be ready to implement a routine container platform project by attaining the following:
- Ability to effectively map "as-is" business processes, identify pain points, and accurately document them, along with identifying automation opportunities, and potential "to-be" automated processes
- Understanding of core consulting methodologies, including project lifecycle, client communication best practices, active listening, and contributing effectively in client workshops and meetings
- Understanding of how Red Hat's technologies can drive innovation and foster transformation at large organizations
Within 12 months, begin to demonstrate technical leadership in container platforms by accomplishing the following:
- Demonstrated ability to break down complex problems, analyze root causes, identify potential solutions, and propose reasoned recommendations for automation challenges
- Contributing lessons learned, best practices, and how-tos to our internal and external communities of practice
- Applying new technologies, frameworks, integrations, or methodologies to Red Hat automation platforms
**What You Will Bring**
- A background in architecting and designing complex customer solutions in a rapidly evolving technology domain
- 4+ years of experience in a Solution Architect, Enterprise Architect, or a consulting delivery Architect role
- 2+ years focused on cloud environments and their supporting infrastructures
- Strong background in consultative customer engagement with either a major consulting services organization or within the services division of a major software company
- Proven track record of working in a strategic advisory capacity to senior IT and business executives
- Outstanding verbal and written communications skills, including extensive experience presenting to C-level executives at large firms
- Proven track record supporting solution sales throughout the delivery lifecycle by identifying and proposing solutions to improve the client experience including training, consulting, account management, and products
- The ability to self-study and quickly learn and put into practice new topics
- Passion for open source software, tooling, and automation
- Strong understanding of DevOps methodologies, tools and how they can be applied within an organization
- Thorough working knowledge and hands-on experience with Ansible, as well as high-level familiarity with Chef, Puppet, Salt, and automation technologies
- Intermediate level scripting, using bash, Python, etc.
- Experience implementing a CI/CD pipeline is preferred
- Broad and deep technical experience with one or more virtualization and cloud technologies, including OpenStack, RHEV, VMWare vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V, Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure, etc.
- Container management and orchestration tools.
- Experience across one or more vertical industry areas preferred
- Comfortable working with highly distributed teams, including interaction with the open source communities via email and IRC
- Experience working in a QA role or working with ticketing systems or bug tracking tools is preferred
- Familiarity with security fundamentals at the infrastructure (including cloud/hypervisor) and operating system level

The salary range for this position is $116,270.00 - $191,840.00. Actual offer will be based on your qualifications.
**Pay Transparency**
Red Hat determines compensation based on several factors including but not limited to job location, experience, applicable skills and training, external market value, and internal pay equity. Annual salary is one component of Red Hat's compensation package. This position may also be eligible for bonus, commission, and/or equity. For positions with Remote-US locations, the actual salary range for the position may differ based on location but will be commensurate with job duties and relevant work experience.
