Job Description
The Water Division of AECOM is seeking a creative, motivated, and highly talented Geospatial Data Scientist with a focus on Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for employment in our Baltimore, Maryland office. The ideal candidate will have experience in GIS and data science, demonstrating strong technical expertise and problem-solving skills. This role involves supporting engineering, modeling, and inspection teams by automating ETL processes using Python, R, and SQL programming languages.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

Ensure the seamless adoption of new tools and processes with minimal oversight.

Create and maintain optimal data pipeline architecture; assemble large, complex data sets to meet business requirements.

Identify, design, and implement process improvements, such as automating manual workflows, optimizing data delivery, and redesigning infrastructure for scalability.

Maintain infrastructure for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) of data from diverse sources using SQL and Azure 'Big Data' technologies for GIS consumption.

Build analytics tools to provide actionable insights, improve operational efficiency, and track key business performance metrics.

Develop custom tools and widgets for ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Enterprise.

Collaborate with stakeholders to address data-related technical issues and support data infrastructure needs.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
-
Bachelor's degree in GIS, Data Science, Mathematics, or related field.
-
2 years of experience in GIS, data science, data engineering, or cloud programming or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

Experience in SQL and database management/development.
-
Experience with the ESRI suite, including ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise, Hubs, Dashboards, Experience Builder, and ArcGIS for Power BI.
-
Experience with Microsoft Power Platform, including Power BI, Power Automate, and Power Query.
-
Valid US Driver's License, and as a condition of employment, pass AECOM's motor vehicle records review.

As a condition of employment, candidates must pass a drug screening.
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with API frameworks such as ArcPy, ArcGIS API for Python, R-ArcGIS, CityWorks API, Flask, and Django.

Experience with JEMA
Active TS/SCI clearance; willingness to take a polygraph exam

The Successful Candidate will have the following required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
