+ 15-20+ years of experience in site investigation (petroleum, hazardous waste, and PFAS) and remediation, conceptual model development, and transactional due diligence support
+ Professional Licensure (Professional Geologist or Professional Engineer) in New Hampshire or willingness to obtain it within 6 months of hire, required
+ Strong knowledge of NHDES Administrative Rules, including but not limited to: Env-Or 600 Contaminated Sites Management, Env-Or 700 Groundwater Release Detection Permits, Env-Or 800 Brownfields Program, and Env-Sw 900 Management of Certain Wastes
+ Understanding of NHDES Petroleum Reimbursement Fund processes
+ Understanding of state and Federal environmental regulatory frameworks in the Northeast
+ Demonstrated leadership
+ Experience and willingness to serve as a strong mentor to staff
+ Excellent attention to detail and excellent communication, organizational, analytical, and judgment skills
+ Must possess a valid driver's license
**Salary Range**
The compensation range starts at $135, 000 and is based on the position, experience, and licensures.

Position Overview


We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Environmental Consultant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in environmental science, building sciences, or a related field, with an emphasis on mold inspections and indoor air quality testing. This role involves conducting on-site inspections, collecting and documenting environmental samples, preparing detailed reports, and delivering clear, actionable recommendations to clients.


Compensation & Schedule


  • This is a contract position with an hourly rate of $30 per hour .
  • Additional compensation includes $0 travel pay per site plus 0.68 per mile mileage reimbursement.
  • As you gain experience and are ready to operate independently, you will earn a 10% commission on each contract you bring in.
  • Hours are flexible and can be arranged to work around your schedule.


Key Responsibilities


  • Perform comprehensive site inspections of residential and commercial properties.
  • Collect environmental samples (air, surface, bulk) in accordance with industry standards NORMI.
  • Operate specialized testing equipment (e.g., IAQ pumps, moisture meters, infrared cameras, VOC monitors).
  • Document site conditions through detailed notes, photos, and chain-of-custody records.
  • Analyze findings and prepare professional, easy-to-understand reports for clients.
  • Provide clients with recommendations for remediation or further action.
  • Communicate effectively with property owners, contractors, and remediation professionals.
  • Stay up to date with environmental regulations, industry best practices, and testing methodologies.


Qualifications


  • Bachelors degree in Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Building Science, or a related field.
  • Experience in mold inspection, IAQ testing, building science or related environmental consulting. (preferred but not required with equivalent experience)
  • Familiarity with laboratory sampling protocols and accredited lab processes.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to produce clear, defensible documentation.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Certification(s) such as NORMI, CMI, CRIE, or similar (preferred, but training will be provided).
  • Valid drivers license and reliable transportation.

What Youll Do:

  • Complete compliance audits and prepare air permit applications, stormwater plans, SPCCs, and waste documentation.
  • Lead environmental training sessions (RCRA, DOT HAZMAT, HAZWOPER) for clients and internal teams.
  • Apply your working knowledge of federal and state regs to help clients navigate audits and avoid risk.
  • Write technical reports that are sharp, clear, and actionable.
  • Deliver exceptional service by anticipating client needs, staying responsive, and showing up with solutions.
  • Travel up to 50% of the time to client sites across the region.


What You Bring:

  • 35 years of experience in environmental compliance or consulting.
  • Direct experience in air permitting and wastewater operations (a must).
  • Experience delivering training on RCRA, HAZWOPER, and DOT.
  • A strong understanding of stormwater, SPCC, and hazardous waste compliance.
  • Confidence in front of a room and comfort talking to everyone from operators to execs.
  • Bachelors or Masters in Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • Bonus points for Class B Wastewater Operator or Asbestos Inspector license.
