The Benefits Specialist serves as the primary point of contact for all employee benefit-related matters. This role is responsible for the comprehensive administration of benefits and retirement programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, voluntary benefits, flexible spending accounts, and more. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Health & Welfare Benefits

Retirement Plans

  • Serve as liaison between employees, beneficiaries, and plan administrators.

  • Facilitate contribution adjustments and other administrative changes.

  • Assist with pension audits and related documentation.

COBRA Administration

  • Ensure accurate employee terminations and track COBRA eligibility.

  • Run termination reports and reconcile with COBRA system.

  • Notify COBRA participants of rate changes.

ACA Compliance

  • Monitor and track employee eligibility for ACA on a monthly basis.

  • Process and distribute 1095-C forms annually to ensure compliance.

Benefits Administration & Reporting

  • Prepare and process data for Health & Dependent Care FSAs, HSAs, and commuter benefits.

  • Maintain accurate benefits enrollment data in HRIS and payroll systems.

  • Utilize internal tickler system to track and update benefits changes.

  • Support AVP of HR in gathering data for plan renewals and vendor negotiations.

  • Review and process medical support notices.

  • Serve as primary contact for benefits vendors and third-party administrators.

  • Coordinate daily benefits processing including enrollments, terminations, claims, and compliance testing.

  • Review and process educational leave and tuition assistance applications.

  • Maintain employee benefits files and group benefits database.

  • Reconcile monthly insurance provider invoices and prepare check requests.

  • Submit and track Workers’ Compensation incidents; liaise with LAMB Partners.

Employee Support & Communication

  • Provide responsive customer service to employees regarding benefits.

  • Send Employee Assistance Program (EAP) communications.

  • Present benefits overview during bi-weekly New Employee Orientations.

  • Distribute creditable coverage notices to eligible employees.

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

As our Benefits Analyst on the Employee Health & Benefits team, youll obtain and analyze group benefit program proposals for both clients and prospects. The Benefits Analyst will analyze bids for group health and welfare coverage for clients, provides benchmarking research and analysis, and develops detailed client reports. The BA provides substantial financial analysis for 8-12 clients on average.

Onsite Work Expectations:

A day in the life.

As our Benefits Analyst on the Employee Health & Benefits team, you’ll obtain and analyze group benefit program proposals for both clients and prospects. The Benefits Analyst will analyze bids for group health and welfare coverage for clients, provides benchmarking research and analysis, and develops detailed client reports. The BA provides substantial financial analysis for 8-12 clients on average.

The BA works on moderate to high complexity cases, demonstrating a high level of accuracy within their work product. This position spends approximately 90% of their time in Excel.

We’d love to meet you if your professional track record includes these skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, mathematics or other related area preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in the healthcare benefits industry working for a group, insurance carrier, broker or general agency preferred.
  • Knowledge of group insurance (medical, dental, vision & life and disability products) preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills.
  • Able to follow directions, be detailed, organized and resourceful.
  • Ability to work under extreme pressure (tight deadlines & juggling many projects).
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
