Job Description

A large software and gaming company is looking for a Gameplay Cinematographer to join a growing team. This person will be responsible for the planning and execution of shots throughout a broad range of video content. With an understanding of how to time and frame shots, you'll support our Senior Gameplay Cinematographers and editorial team in crafting high quality trailers. Using best in class tools within Unreal Engine, you'll further support the long-term development of our capture team by maintaining workflow documentation, reporting bugs and testing new tools.

In this role you will

? Work closely with the Capture Coordinators and Capture Team Leadership to capture high quality in-game shots.

? Execute your strong sense of timing, staging, and composition/layout when capturing footage.

? Monitors capture system functionality and reports outstanding bug issues to our Technical Build Producer

? Be knowledgeable and proficient in operating cameras and developer tools to create and capture high-quality cinematic media

? Maintains capture workflow documentation and process

? Utilize UE5 tools to create cinematic gameplay cameras

? Assist the Senior Gameplay Cinematographer in onboarding new team members in Unreal camera tools and best practices to maintain best-in-class capture

Skills and Requirements

? 2-3 years experience in gameplay capture or similar role.

? Strong understanding of visual storytelling.

? Ability to effectively communicate across every level of leadership.

? Can receive and execute against constructive feedback from leads.

? Calm under pressure when working against quick timelines and changing priorities.

? Deep understanding of video game engines and camera tools. (ideally Unreal Engine) ?Unreal Engine Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Film Production, Cinematography, or a related arts field.
• 5+ years of professional experience as a Cinematographer or Director of Photography.
• Strong portfolio showcasing diverse cinematic work.
• Expertise in various camera systems, lenses, and lighting techniques.
• Excellent understanding of visual storytelling, composition, and color theory.
• Proficiency in digital workflows and post-production processes.
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, creative environment.
• Flexibility to work varied hours and locations as required.

• Collaborate closely with the director and production team to define the visual style and aesthetic of film projects.
• Plan and execute all cinematography for feature films, short films, documentaries, and commercials.
• Select and manage camera equipment, lenses, lighting kits, and other necessary gear.
• Supervise camera and lighting crews, ensuring efficient and high-quality work.
• Develop and implement lighting strategies to create specific moods and atmospheres.
• Execute complex camera movements and techniques to enhance storytelling.
• Work with the colorist to achieve the desired final look and feel of the footage.
• Troubleshoot technical issues related to cameras, lighting, and grip equipment.
• Manage the cinematography budget effectively, ensuring all equipment and personnel costs are controlled.
• Maintain a safe and organized set environment, adhering to all industry safety standards.
• Stay abreast of the latest advancements in cinematography technology and techniques.
• Contribute creative ideas for shot composition and visual storytelling during pre-production and on-set.

• A strong portfolio showcasing diverse and high-quality cinematography work across various genres.
• Extensive experience as a Director of Photography or Lead Cinematographer in film and video production.
• Proficiency with a wide range of professional cinema cameras (e.g., Arri Alexa, RED, Sony Venice) and associated equipment.
• Expert knowledge of lighting techniques, grip equipment, and rigging.
• Strong understanding of film theory, visual storytelling, and composition.
• Excellent leadership and team management skills.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Proficiency in editing software (e.g., DaVinci Resolve, Adobe Premiere Pro) is a plus.
• A degree in Film Production, Cinematography, or a related field from an accredited institution is preferred.
