We work in Python, creating open-source automation capabilities that simplify operations for anybody, anywhere, who is building on Ubuntu. • Assist with due diligence/site analysis reports, engineer opinion of probable costs, utility computations, detention/retention computations, storm water reports, earthwork analysis.

• Assist in the preparation of design documentation including Civil 3D models and drawings under the guidance of senior engineers.
• Conduct research on materials, products, municipal/zoning codes, systems, and sustainable design practices to inform project decisions.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including architecture, sustainability, construction, and other consultants, to support the integrated delivery of projects.
• Perform onsite surveys of existing site conditions and documenting field measurements and observations.

• Licensing and Certification: Successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (F.E.) exam and EIT Certification a plus. Professional Engineer (P.E.) license a plus.

About the Role We are looking for an Engineering Manager to join our leadership team and play a pivotal role in developing and scaling our GutLab at-home sampling technology. This position offers a unique opportunity to combine hands-on engineering expertise with strategic leadership in a fast-paced, high-intensity environment. You will step directly into on-going hardware development for a product with a large and complex Bill of Materials (BOM), driving it from the final development stages through manufacturing scale-up and operational readiness. Key Responsibilities: Hands-On Development : Lead the design, testing, and refinement of the GutLab. Utilize your expertise in CAD, prototyping, and validation to deliver high-quality hardware solutions. End-to-End Execution : Manage all aspects of hardware development, including procurement, manufacturing transfer, sustaining engineering, and operations setup. Manufacturing Scale-Up : Finalize designs for manufacturability, establish scalable production processes, and set up manufacturing support systems to ensure smooth operations. Team Building : Recruit, mentor, and lead a high-performing hardware team to support development, production, and operational goals. Strategic Problem Solving : Address complex procurement challenges such as fluid tariff issues and supply chain constraints while identifying cost-effective solutions. Cross-Functional Collaboration : Partner with other leaders to align hardware development with broader company strategy and goals. Qualifications: 8+ years’ experience in hardware development and/or manufacturing for electromechanical systems. Proficiency with complex CAD assemblies, prototyping, testing methodologies, and manufacturing processes. Demonstrated ability to manage every stage of the product lifecycle – from concept to mass production. Leadership experience with a proven ability to build and manage technical teams. Ability to thrive under pressure in fast-paced start-up environments. This role offers a competitive total compensation package up to $200k commensurate with experience, including salary, equity award, and annual performance bonus.
