Primary Purpose

The Digital Engineering Manager role at Ahold Delhaize USA (ADUSA) will function as a key contributor to the eCommerce Platform of ADUSA, as part of the core Technology team.

This role will work across multiple value streams within Digital Technology, taking 360-degree ownership of payment and order processing products - across customer facing capabilities, and backend payment gateway, processing, billing, fraud, and collections realm. This will include many crucial capabilities - such as launching a new payment platform, which includes existing payment methods and adding new ones in future. Additionally, leading roadmap for capabilities such as linking payments with loyalty and savings programs, improving backend payments platform to more scalable and flexible tech, driving longer term ambitions to make payments frictionless and seamless, enabling cobrand payment cards etc.

This role will work with architects and to help design commercially viable solutions and transition plans that lead to a highly flexible, scalable, and robust IT landscape.

You are an experienced technologist, conceptual thinker, great communicator, and influencer, and can build strong partnerships with our business, product, development, operations and security teams.

Our flexible/ hybrid work schedule includes 3 in-person days in our Chicago office and 2 remote days. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Duties & Responsibilities

•Manage customer-facing and internal payments and order processing strategy and roadmap.

•Manage third party vendor relationships, identifying necessary and/or desirable features and oversee platform integrations.

•Collaborate with the business intelligence, user experience and product engineering teams to assess value, usability, and feasibility of features.

•Engage with multiple stakeholders to ensure all product needs are captured.

•Support the development and production of promotions and offers for current and potential customers.

•Specify, prioritize, and communicate high level and detailed specifications using written requirements, flows and use cases UX-generated deliverables such as prototypes, wireframes and design and copy documents.

•Coordinate post-launch activities to validate that billing and payments features work as designed and that processes dependent on the feature successfully complete acceptance testing.

•Focus on testing and optimization of the payment experience.

•Manage the development of training materials and train quality assurance, technical support, and others on new product features.

Required Qualifications

•A technical manager with 10+ years of experience with hands on development skills

•Master in core technologies: Java, Spring, RESTful API, messaging frameworks, container-based development (Docker), Elastic Search, Relational Database (PostgreSQL), NoSQL (Azure Cosmos DB or Cassandra) and event driven architecture solutions such as Kafka.

•Experience in designing, developing, and implementing the complex projects using one or more following Cloud computing technologies - Kubernetes, API Management, Distributed Caching (Redis/Hazelcast)

•Experience in implementing Microservices Architecture and building / deploying highly automated, scalable, and maintainable infrastructure.

•Expert in modernizing legacy applications to modern technologies in public cloud

•Experience in crafting a sophisticated network of microservices which can handle high TPS (transactions per second) traffic with low latency. This experience is essential as we embark on implementing transaction processing microservices, which can process millions of transactions daily, in a highly efficient manner.

•Knowledge of Continuous Delivery process and tools, testing frameworks and practices (preferably GitHub, Jenkins, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications

•Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering or equivalent.

•Broad and deep experience in payment-related technologies and providers, including payment gateways, payment orchestration, tokenization, wallets, POS solutions, eCommerce platforms, fraud & risk solutions, etc. Sound understanding of how these solutions plug into a broader omni-channel digital & eCommerce IT landscape.

•Major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, Google) Solution Architect/Developer Certification is preferred.

•Capable of navigating across a sophisticated and rapidly changing landscape by staying on top of the latest trends

About the Role + Team: We’re looking for an Engineering Manager to lead our growing Data team at Snapsheet. This is a critical role for someone who enjoys rolling up their sleeves, guiding engineers in implementation and architectural decision-making, and helping evolve our data infrastructure for both immediate improvements and long-term scalability. You’ll lead a team responsible for two core initiatives: Synthesis , our homegrown ETL platform Vice Metrics , the service powering embedded analytics within our Cloud platform, built on the Sisense BI tool In this role, you’ll be focused on maturing our data pipeline and platform capabilities—delivering robust data validation, implementing end-to-end testing, and building monitoring tools to support developers and engineers alike. We're looking for a technical leader who thrives on solving real-world data challenges and is excited to build the next generation of our data platform. The Data team currently consists of four engineers: a team lead, two senior engineers, and one junior engineer. You’ll help lead them through scaling our current platform, improving data consistency and replication reliability, and ultimately driving towards a more standardized, stable, and scalable solution. At Snapsheet, Engineering Managers are not just people leaders—they’re also strategic technical contributors who are passionate about guiding engineers and shipping quality code. What you will do as an Engineering Manager: Own the planning, execution, and delivery of critical data infrastructure projects. Lead, mentor, and support a high-performing team of engineers through 1:1s, feedback, code reviews, and career development. Guide architectural decisions and hands-on implementation—especially for data validation, replication, and observability efforts. Take charge of team rituals including grooming, retrospectives, and sprint planning. Shape and execute the team roadmap in collaboration with internal stakeholders—aligning engineering output with business goals. Champion scalable and stable solutions for our data pipelines and reporting systems. Work closely with BI analysts, product teams, and support engineers to meet both customer-facing and internal reporting needs. Help define and drive Snapsheet’s long-term data engineering strategy. Partner with our internal recruitment team to identify and hire top talent. What we are looking for: B.S. in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related STEM field 8+ years of experience in full-stack software engineering, ideally with a focus in data 3+ years of experience in a team lead, tech lead, or engineering manager role Deep understanding of data engineering principles, including ETL pipelines, data validation, and scalability Experience working with relational databases, API design, and performance tuning Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (especially AWS), and services like Kafka, Spark, and DMS Hands-on experience with Ruby and React is a plus A strong interest in leading technical strategy while staying involved in the codebase A collaborative mindset and a passion for building reliable, customer-facing data products Technologies we use: Infrastructure: MySQL, Redis, AWS, Docker, CloudFront, Kafka, AWS DMS, Sisense (on-prem BI) Languages: Ruby, JavaScript, SQL Frameworks: Rails, React, Spark Communication & Task Management: Slack, Jira, Atlassian, Confluence We’re Built to Grow With You – And That Starts With How We Support You At Snapsheet, we know that growth doesn’t happen in a vacuum—it’s fueled by the right support at the right time. About the Role We are looking for an Engineering Manager to join our leadership team and play a pivotal role in developing and scaling our GutLab at-home sampling technology. You will step directly into on-going hardware development for a product with a large and complex Bill of Materials (BOM), driving it from the final development stages through manufacturing scale-up and operational readiness. Key Responsibilities: Hands-On Development : Lead the design, testing, and refinement of the GutLab. Utilize your expertise in CAD, prototyping, and validation to deliver high-quality hardware solutions. End-to-End Execution : Manage all aspects of hardware development, including procurement, manufacturing transfer, sustaining engineering, and operations setup. Manufacturing Scale-Up : Finalize designs for manufacturability, establish scalable production processes, and set up manufacturing support systems to ensure smooth operations. Team Building : Recruit, mentor, and lead a high-performing hardware team to support development, production, and operational goals.
