Your Job Georgia-Pacific's Consumer Products division is searching for a Manufacturing Manager interested in facilitating continuous improvement and leadership for a dynamic team at our paper mill located in Camas, Washington. This position will report to the VP-Manufacturing/Mill Manager and will be responsible for managing roughly 150 employees (salaried and hourly) supporting operations and maintenance of a paper machine, 5 converting lines, and utilities.Our Team The Camas Mill is located along the Columbia River in the heart of historic Camas, Washington across from Portland, Oregon and in the shadow of Mt. Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) is a multidisciplinary research institution engaged in science and engineering on behalf of national security. We are seeking an experienced Manufacturing Manager 4 to join our team to lead the metrology engineers and inspectors in the Prototype Fabrication Applied Metrology Group (PF-AM). You will support basic science and nuclear weapon programs at LANL and provide critical data to these experimental programs in support of our national security.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in design for manufacturability reviews, perform initial drawing reviews and GD&T interpretation, develop inspection processes, program CMMs, collect data, compare actuals against design requirements, generate formal inspection reports, and capture and process non-conformances
  • Report directly to the PF Division Leader and serve as an engaged member of the Division's leadership team
  • Plan and coordinate work execution for all group operations, monitoring schedules to ensure delivery of support within requested time frames
  • Promote quality customer service and advance the capability of personnel, equipment, and infrastructure integral to PF-AM operations

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in engineering, science, or a similar field from an accredited school
  • 8+ years of relevant experience, or a mix of education and experience in the field
  • Demonstrated experience in a manufacturing environment, particularly machining and metrology, where an in-depth knowledge of work processes is essential
  • Experience performing and overseeing inspection of components using contact and optical measuring equipment, with ability to read/understand prints/drawings and a working experience with GD&T
  • Experience analyzing quality performance data, tracking trends, and presenting findings to senior leadership with strategic recommendations
  • Demonstrated record of successful management within a line organization, including support of performance and salary management, budgeting, recruitment, conflict resolution, etc.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Ability to act as a technical resource for calibration methodology and measurement uncertainty, ensuring alignment with relevant standards
  • Experience with Quindos, PC-DMIS, CALYPSO or other CMM control software
  • Experience performing in-house calibration of applicable measuring devices, and in introducing new technologies into inspection processes
  • Formal training and experience in leading organizational processes and creating a culture of continuous improvement using Lean, Kaizen, Six Sigma, and/or other CI methodologies and tools.

This position is based onsite at our Tracy, CA facility. The salary range for this role is $115,000-$130,000.

The Manufacturing Manager will oversee the operations, managing labor, productivity, quality control, and safety measures. Responsibilities include ensuring safe and efficient operations, representing the company on regulatory issues, and enhancing operational procedures and systems. You will supervise shift teams to ensure safety compliance, organize and prioritize tasks, and meet production goals. This role offers significant impact in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Utilize data to identify areas for business improvement.
  • Develop reports and dashboards to optimize daily operations across fulfillment centers.
  • Remove production constraints by allocating resources and directing staff to meet goals.
  • Manage direct reports, oversee performance, training, and discipline, and promote effective communication and a positive culture.

Qualifications

  • Minimum five (5) years of progressive management experience in manufacturing.
  • At least two (2) years in a first-level production management role, preferably in a chilled food environment.
  • Experience with food manufacturing processes, GMPs, and managing in a fast-paced setting.
  • Proficiency in production automation, data entry, and management software.
  • Knowledge of large-scale startup operations is a plus.
  • Certification in OSHA, HACCP, First Aid/CPR, and Food Hygiene preferred.
  • Strong motivation skills, ability to stand for extended periods, and fluency in English; bilingual in Spanish is helpful.
  • Ability to work in cold/damp environments.

Education

  • Associates degree in a related field or equivalent experience; high school diploma acceptable with relevant experience.
