Saab, Inc. is seeking a Director, Business Development responsible for identifying, developing and executing the capture strategy for new business opportunities within the Autonomous and Underwater System (AUS) division.
This senior leader will partner with the AUS VP/GM to create and implement a successful growth and capture strategy utilizing a portfolio of new and existing products that support the long-term strategy of the business. Responsibilities include but not limited to:
Collaborate closely with AUS leadership and Saab, Inc.’s corporate Business Development team to position Saab for growth with future core programs, new technologies, products, services and markets or business models.
Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including DoD officials, military branches, government agencies, and current AUS customers.
Identify and qualify potential opportunities, and drive the capture process from opportunity identification to proposal submission. This includes cross-functional collaboration with business leadership, technical experts, proposal teams, and finance partners to develop winning proposals.
Maintain and grow existing customer relationships with the customer community
Drive competitive intelligence, market trends, accessible markets and provide insights regarding price-to-win strategies
Support and/or develop strategies to bring new technologies into new or existing markets
Typical Compensation Range: $252,200 - $40,400 for our Quincy, MA and Washington DC office locations. 231,200 - 312,100 for our Cranston, RI and Bristol, RI office locations.

When extending an offer, Saab, Inc. considers factors including (but not limited to) the role and associated responsibilities, location, and market and business considerations, as well as the candidate's work experience, key skills, and education/training.
Skills and Experience:BS Degree in business or related engineering discipline.
Minimum of 15+ years relevant experience in Aerospace and Defense environment, in Program Management, Business Capture, Business Development, Marketing and Sales, or Military. Industry experience is highly preferred.
10+ years of directly or indirectly leading organizations.
Demonstrated track record leading large scale aerospace and/or defense business capture efforts.
Advanced knowledge of the capture/business strategy and/or the Subsea/Seabed warfare stakeholder environment.
Knowledge of the DoD acquisition process, and government procurement policies and procedures.
Knowledge of the US government budget process to skillfully navigate detailed defense budgets.
Outstanding communication and presentation skills.
Capable of obtaining a Secret level clearance.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mission vertical (Systems, Data,

Stay informed about industry trends, market dynamics, and competitive landscape to
inform business development strategies and decision-making.
Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and meetings to promote brand
awareness and foster new connections.
Provide leadership, mentorship, and guidance to business development team members,
portfolio and program managers, and others across Clarity, fostering a culture of
excellence and continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and/or minimum of 10 years of experience in business development,
capture, program management and/or related roles within the government contracting
industry, with a focus on SOF & Army customers
Proven track record of success in identifying, pursuing, and winning ($50M+)
government contracts and task orders.
Strong network of contacts within SOF & Army communities, including government civilians,
uniformed military personnel, prime contractors, and industry partners.
Deep understanding of the federal acquisition process as well as SOF peculiar
requirements, including familiarity with procurement regulations, contract vehicles, and
acquisition trends.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills, with the ability to
effectively engage and influence senior-level stakeholders.
Strategic thinker with the ability to analyze market dynamics, develop account
plans/strategies, identify opportunities, and support the proposal development process to

Individual will also work closely with Operations, Capture and Proposal personnel to transition to, and assist when necessary, successful capture and proposal development. In addition, this individual will plan and recommend Client and marketing strategies to achieve maximum customer and market penetration and to drive tactical and strategic growth. Essential Job Functions: Proactively identify new business opportunities. Maintain a pipeline that supports sector growth objectives for key pipeline metrics. Perform market research to qualify new business opportunities, including analysis of customer budgets, capabilities required, current customer preferences, competitive environment assessments, and incumbent strengths and weaknesses. Plan, coordinate and conduct meetings with customers, competitors, clients, and teammates to develop market insight on requirements, acquisition strategy, acquisition timing, and contract vehicle choices. Review current market trends and propose new business opportunities and ideas to improve revenue (both tactical and strategic) Participate as required in the DCS business development process, including pipeline reviews, opportunity gate reviews, black hat sessions, successful transition to capture and proposal phases, assist with capture and proposal development. The Business Development manager will be responsible for initial identification, validation and qualification efforts including development of key artifacts leading to a successful capture gate decision. Collaborate with Business Development (Account Manager and Capture) staff and line management to support cross enterprise objectives and customer engagement. Support overall strategic planning and linking pursuits/capture activities which support the business development metrics for awards, submits, and pipeline. Interact routinely with various levels of management, functional leads, other staff, and customers. Direct engagement with senior level industry and Government clients is required. Brief business development status to senior management. Ability to travel up to 50% required. Normal travel requirement 20-30%. Required Skills: Due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required. Bachelor's degree (preferably in a technical field) and 10 plus years in performing Business Development and/or capture functions for DoD agencies and clients. Experience supporting and interfacing with senior executives and business professionals. Coordination With Company Executives, Sales And Marketing Professionals Required. Proven track record of successful business development for large and small pursuits with experience utilizing a variety of IDIQs, MACs, TO pursuits and standalone contracts. Strong relationships with industry partners—demonstrated ability to form teams and negotiate teaming relationships with new and existing partners. Excellent oral, written and verbal communication skills. Leadership skills to develop, organize and execute significant Client activities, including building industry teams, assessing win probability, and executing customer call plans. Desired Skills: Experience with BAAs and OTAs desired. Experience utilizing IAC MAC and/or OASIS IDIQs strongly desired. Experience supporting and/or performing US Army and/or United States Marine Corps (USMC) growth pursuits desired. A Secret security clearance is strongly desired.
