The Advice Consultant will work with new and existing retirement plan services participants to provide them with the appropriate guidance to assist them in meeting their retirement goals. Candidate must be able to explain in detail the pros and cons of various financial strategies, investment vehicles, including portfolio/asset allocation. Consultant will also need to position Schwab as a full service provider of financial services to participants for their needs outside of their company sponsored retirement plan. The position requires attention to detail to include administrative areas such as recording metrics, compliance, and timely filing of reports.

+ Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience demonstrating a basic understanding of ERISA, pension/trust compliance, DC and DB plans
+ Prefer 5+ years of successful experience in Qualified Retirement Plans, Financial Planning, Employee Benefits or equivalent experience in a Financial Services role
+ Series 7 & 66 licenses required and additional professional designation from the college for financial planning required within one year of joining the team
+ Preference for Bi-lingual Spanish/English communicator
+ Possess broad and extensive knowledge of all Schwab products and services.
+ Demonstrate a high level of efficiency, quality of conversation, and professional behaviors
+ Experience delivering holistic financial planning
+ Track record as a high performer meeting performance goals and able to connect clients to other financial solutions
+ Utilization of Salesforce to work lead flow and notate client interactions
+ High proficiency in consultative communication and active listening skills to uncover financial needs
+ Strong presenting skills on the phone and in person
+ Passionate about our purpose to champion every client's goals with passion and integrity to make a contribution and help others succeed
+ Excellent time management skills to prepare for and conduct client meetings
+ Demonstrates good judgment and knows how to utilize resources to accomplish tasks
+ Required to stay in role for 18 month
In addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities.

  • Must be extremely sales oriented while having a relationship focused approach with members.
  • Must have a strong desire to continually surpass goals, achieve various sales targets while keeping the member in the center of everything we do.
  • Must lead with a sales is service mindset.
  • Proven ability in a competitive sales environment.
  • Full cycle knowledge of new account functions.
  • Comprehensive understanding of all retail and small business products and services.
  • Must have excellent communication skills in order to make professional and effective presentations and recommendations to members.
  • Ability to promote all credit union products and services to members and overcome objections and concerns.
  • Strong member service focus with previous experience in a service industry.
  • This position requires that you obtain, and maintain, a National Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) number as required by SAFE Act.
  • A significant level of trust, credibility and diplomacy is required. In-depth dialogue, conversations and explanations with customers, direct and indirect reports and outside vendors can be of a sensitive and/or highly confidential nature. Communications may involve motivating, influencing, educating and/or advising others on matters of significance. Typically includes subject matter experts as well as first level to middle managers.

  • The target range for entry in a new position is between the minimum and midpoint of the range, depending on experience and qualifications.

The expected salary range for this position is $216,500-233,500. This is not inclusive of our full range, and actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct audits of employer practices, including wage and hour policies and procedures;
  • Draft and revise incentive compensation documents, including commission and bonus plans;
  • Draft and revise policies, handbooks and other employee communication documents so that employees can easily understand what is expected of them;
  • Explain complex employment law issues in a way that can be understandable to a range of audiences;
  • Identify various problem-solving options, including the pros and cons of each option, so that clients can choose the practical and legal solution that works best for them.
Skills and Educational Requirements:
  • JD from ABA-accredited law school
  • Admitted to the CA State Bar and in good standing
  • 4-6 years of relevant experience
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local workplace and employment law a plus
  • Understanding of current agency (state and federal) enforcement techniques a plus
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Experience conducting trainings or workplace investigations preferred, but not required.
