**JOB SUMMARY**
Music Therapy is defined as the clinical and evidence-based use of music interventions to accomplish individualized goals for people of all ages and ability levels within a therapeutic relationship by a credentialed professional who has completed an approved music therapy program. This individual has completed the education and clinical training requirements established by the American Music Therapy Association (AMTA) and holds current board certification from The Certification Board for Music Therapists (CBMT). The Music Therapist must adhere to the CBMT Code of Professional Practice, the Code of Ethics and Standards of Clinical Practice set forth by the American Music Therapy Association.
**JOB QUALIFICATIONS**
**EDUCATION** For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation.
**Minimum Required** : Graduated with a bachelor's degree or higher from a music therapy degree program.
**Preferred/Optional:** Master's degree in Music Therapy from a music therapy degree program.
**EXPERIENCE**
**Minimum Required:** Completion of a Music Therapy Internship under a board-certified music therapist in a medical setting and successful board certification. Demonstrates professional knowledge of growth and development across the lifespan. Ability to relate to persons of diverse culture and demographic backgrounds. Knowledge of the professional ethics and values of music therapy practice. Demonstrate strong music skills (guitar, keyboard, voice, percussion) and ability to adapt live music based on observations of patient and family needs and/or responses. Demonstrate excellent listening, effective interpersonal communication, verbal and written skills.
**Preferred/Optional** : One to three years of experience in a medical setting.
**CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES** The following licensure(s), certification(s), registration(s), etc., are required for this position. Licenses with restrictions are subject to review to determine if restrictions are substantially related to the position.
**Minimum Required** : - Must have passed Board Certification in Music Therapy through the Certification Board for Music Therapists approved by the American Music Therapy Association (AMTA). - Must maintain Board Certification credentials through completing 100 hours of continuing music therapy education or retaking and passing the CBMT exam every five years (recertification cycle) - Must be registered in Wisconsin (WMTR); Maintains Registration through the Department of Safety and Professional Services Wisconsin State Statutes SPS 142.01. - Must maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) within three months of hire.

Music Therapist needed for UNC Health Youth Behavioral Health (YBH), in Butner, North Carolina. Youth Behavioral Health Hospital (YBH) is a 54-bed, 24-hour, locked psychiatric facility located in Butner, North Carolina. There will be four units dedicated to serving children and adolescent with mental health diagnoses, dual diagnosis, substance misuse and complex behaviors. YBH philosophy is grounded in a milieu-based, trauma-informed and therapeutic setting. This facility aims to serve patients with a complex history, including aggression and psychosis. Safety is the key component of the care provided as well as introduction of positive coping skills, healthy living and positive leisure activities. Therapy services will work among a large interdisciplinary team including Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Social Workers, and Nursing Services.
We are seeking a Music Therapist with child and adolescent mental health experience to work on a multidisciplinary therapy team. The Music Therapist shall be responsible for assessing, developing, and implementing music therapy individual and group sessions for patients. The music therapist will utilize music therapy to support emotional, mental, and physical well-being for patients. The Music Therapist will participate in a variety of professional growth activities and mentorship intended to develop and improve patient care delivery and departmental performance. Additionally, the Music Therapist will be encouraged to serve as a clinical educator for music therapy students. The Music Therapist shall also demonstrate accountability for and contribution to program development, quality improvement, problem solving and productivity enhancement in a flexible team fashion.
The selected candidate will work 40 hours per week with regular weekend coverage required. Additionally, some holiday coverage required. Highly Preferred: Experience in hospital based mental health therapy services and experience with children and adolescent mental health .
Summary:
Plans, coordinates and implements Music Therapy interventions in accordance with JCAHO standards and with hospital and department policies. Facilitates and carries out treatments designed for pain management, development of coping skills to deal with illness, injury or diagnosis of a disease.
Responsibilities:
1. Consults with team members related to the use of music to meet the individual patient needs. Plans, develops, coordinates and evaluates specialized programs for specific clinical service areas.
2. Evaluates patient progresses towards treatment goals and responses to treatment interventions, and adapts as necessary. Facilitates techniques for pain management, development of coping skills to deal with illness, injury or diagnosis of disease.
3. Participates in Continuous Quality Improvement and Quality Assurance activities in accordance with JCAHO standards and with hospital and department policies. Participates in the design and implementation of research projects conducted in the Department.
4. Plans for all needed musical resources and coordinates program scheduling with co-workers and other disciplines. Participates in outreach activities related to the Music Therapy program.
5. Plans, creates, and conducts individualized music therapy interventions for patients taking into account specific patient needs and interests, resources needed and appropriate health, safety, infection control and risk management procedures to assure patient safety and therapeutic/rehabilitative benefit.
6. Receives physicians orders and individually assesses/evaluates patients in order to prescribe appropriate treatment interventions. Analyzes assessments, medical history, allied health disciplines evaluations, and patient interview and formulates treatment plan for patient.

The Versant Media Music Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that productions across the Versant portfolio receive the music they need to make their programming sing. As a Music Coordinator you will field requests from productions by receiving or giving creative direction and delivering music on time and within the production's licensing deals. You will conduct training sessions as needed for clients who need assistance with searching our music database. You will assist with administrative duties, including maintaining users and groups, running reports for data analytics, and changing library permissions as necessary.

Responsibilities:
- Assessing patient needs and developing individualized treatment plans
- Using music to address physical, emotional, and cognitive needs
- Conducting individual or group therapy sessions
- Collaborating with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care
- Evaluating and documenting patient progress
- Continuously expanding knowledge and skills in music therapy
- Ensuring a safe and supportive environment for patients
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Music Therapy from an accredited institution
- Certification in Music Therapy (MT-BC)
- Clinical experience in music therapy, preferably with diverse populations
- Strong musical skills and proficiency in playing various instruments
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to connect with patients and create a therapeutic rapport
