About The Role
Our analyst position offers a unique opportunity for ambitious professionals seeking to play a meaningful role in connecting capital with opportunity to finance projects for not-for-profits, governments, and developers who are engaged in building the country's infrastructure. Analysts are involved in all steps related to the completion of bond transactions, from RFP responses to preparing bond sizing cash flows and debt profiles to transaction processes. Analysts should be prepared for direct interaction with senior bankers and clients in a highly competitive, rewarding, team-oriented environment to execute successful financings.
Responsibilities
- Work on financing community projects with clients such as school districts, cities, counties, universities, utility districts, state agencies
- Research client debt load, local economy, financial strengths
- Develop models to structure and optimize debt transactions
- Prepare analyses on client outstanding debt, future debt capacity and credit profile
- Assist with marketing to new clients. Prepare presentations for financing proposals and new business development
- Prepare disclosure documents for bond sales
- Prepare presentations to bond rating agencies
- Assist with conference and event planning
- Interact with clients and other financing team members in coordinating transaction details
- Draft responses to request for proposals from municipalities seeking assistance
Qualifications
- B.S. or B.A. with major(s) in business, economics, mathematics, political science, public administration, urban planning or related fields is preferred
- Interest in or previous experience with public finance or with public agencies is a strong positive
- Successful candidates will be enthusiastic, highly self-motivated, and to go the extra mile in terms of effort and hours when needed
- Comfort with analysis and quantitative operations is a must, but no prior experience is required
- Knowledge of or desire to learn about financial markets
- Well organized, attention to detail and able to manage multiple projects under pressure
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Advanced user of Excel, PowerPoint and Word
- Experience of 1 to 3 years working in a related field such as banking, accounting or governmental finance a plus, although we will also consider recent graduates
- Strong communication and professional presence with clients required

As an Associate in Investment Grade Finance (IGF), you will function as a fully-integrated team member, in a flat structure that allows for direct client interaction. Team members will rely on the Associate to drive processes, including deal executions and pitching
The IGF team is responsible for originating, structuring and executing bond issuances, syndicated bank facilities, and liability management transactions. J.P. Job Responsibilities
- Monitor global rate and credit market dynamics and how they affect our clients' debt portfolios and funding decisions
- Analyze market data, investment grade deal flow and thematic events to provide information to internal teams and external clients
- Prepare client pitches that address capital needs
- Participate in the structuring and marketing of bond and loan executions as well as loan amendments and liability management
- Coordinate with investment banking coverage, interest rate/FX risk management to provide clients with holistic corporate finance and capital structure solutions
- Develop industry specific knowledge of the client base and awareness of key decision makers (i.e. CFOs, Treasurers, Capital Markets Directors)
- Maintain direct dialogue with client coverage officers, debt and equity partners as well as banking syndicate
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- 2+ years prior work experience in an investment banking front office role or the equivalent
- Excellent accounting, finance, quantitative and business writing skills
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or related field
- Understands transaction cycle and the steps in the process and is execution oriented
