**The Role**
HII - America's largest shipbuilder and a global, all-domain defense provider- has an exciting opportunity for a 2026 Sustainability summer intern at our Corporate Headquarters in Newport News, Virginia! With a more than 135-year history of advancing U.S. national defense, this minimum 10 week Corporate summer internship opportunity will allow students to gain experience in areas such as business, finance, information technology, and legal and government affairs, as well as being able to support the leaders who are driving the future of HII!
As Sustainability summer intern you will:
- Report to and take direction directly from HII's Corporate Director of Sustainability
- Provide general support for operationalizing sustainability objectives, including coordination with the Chief Sustainability Officer, executive-level committees, Sustainability Management Teams and Division leads across the HII enterprise
- Assist with project management o Managing daily project activities and tasks o Documenting progress, decisions and changes for transparency and continuity o Coordinating with cross-functional teams to remove impediments and maintain momentum o Ensuring deliverables meet agreed standards before sign-off and/or publication - Assist on projects to mature the Company's sustainability program and long-term business strategy goals;
- Assist with Sustainability data management and analysis in cooperation with other departments and external service providers
- Assist with preparations for meeting domestic and international regulatory requirements

3. Currently attending a 4 year college or university (or 2+2 program) and ideally will be a rising Junior or above, and will be attending school in the fall following the internship, or currently enrolled in a relevant Master's program

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Primary focus on client development and delivery of the full spectrum of ERM’s consulting services to provide strategic value to our Key Clients in North America. - Implement change by leveraging ERM’s business process transformation capability, digital solutions and deep subject matter expertise. - Disclose effectively by using proven methodologies for assessing materiality and driving robust reporting (e.g. GRI, SASB) and a strategic framework to respond to investor surveys (e.g. CDP, DJSI, MSCI, Sustainalytics, ISS). We offer specialist scenario analysis support to help meet growing investor demand for disclosure around climate change, using frameworks such as TCFD.
- Strong business and leadership skills to help deliver ERM’s business objectives:
- Actively develop commercial strategies to pursue and win new business opportunities associated with the Low Carbon Economy Transition that result in significant revenue growth with target clients aligned with ERM’s global strategy.
- Provide business value selling at the top levels of client organizations, raising the profile of ERM’s capabilities within key client organizations, to identify and shape clients’ needs for ERM services.

- Support the growth and development of ERM’s North American Climate Advisory practice and actively collaborate with colleagues across North America and the globe. Drive innovation within the practice to stay ahead of client needs and to differentiate ERM in the market.
- Work in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment to build ERM’s global business, as well as to lead client and practice teams. Leverage ‘all of ERM’ to bring our clients integrated solutions to address their most pressing sustainability needs.
- Meet business financial targets, overall project budget and schedule, client satisfaction/expectations, and internal and contract requirements.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in economics, engineering, science, business, or related discipline; advanced degrees preferred.
- 15+ years’ progressive experience in a consulting environment, working at a high-level with corporate legal clients; proven track record with Fortune 500 firms including oil and gas, chemical, mining, power, infrastructure, technology and/or manufacturing sectors.
- Business acumen to understand business risk and challenges, and recognize key market opportunities.
- Demonstrable track record in delivering multimillion dollar sales results annually, including successfully winning large and strategic portfolios.
- Well-versed in CS&CC with a focus on climate strategy and climate-related services.
- Offer recognized technical expertise and an established reputation in the local marketplace.
For the Partner, Corporate Sustainability and Climate Change (Director Level) position, we anticipate the annual base pay of $50,000 – $1 0,000 (USD). An employe e’s pay position within this range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs. We also may have instances where employee’s fall outside of the range based on the factors noted above. This job may be eligible for bonus pay (casual and fixed term/flex force employees are NOT bonus eligible).

Corporate Compliance & Sustainability Manager Responsibilities
- Develop and implement cross-functional company procedures and documents associated to ESG program areas, with strong focus on development of product carbon footprint (CF) analysis, product life cycle (LC) analysis and associated reports
- Partner with Research & Technology (R&T), Engineering, Supply Chain and Operations to gather product, process, equipment and energy information for development of LC/CF analysis and associated reports.
- Keep leadership team updated on new and emerging global regulations associated to corporate social responsibility (CSR) and sustainability, along with associated obligations, risks/opportunities for Arclin products.
- Lead development of relevant KPI’s, ESG management system development and associated data for management review and team roll-out. Able to right-size practical targets and metrics based on business needs, and identify opportunities.
- Design and deliver training programs, workshops and events to raise awareness, build knowledge and develop skills on sustainability topics for the organization.
- Respond to external partner and customer ESG related requests and prioritize with the business leads.
- Track ESG data gathering efforts and offer practical reporting solutions.
- Serve as administrator of sustainability software and support other software platforms
- Support in Regulatory Affairs items related to product stewardship and regulatory affairs needs, such as SDS development, product hazard analysis, development of product compliance systems (ex. REACH, TSCA, EPA GHS, OSHA), related customer requests
- Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Engineering or other STEM related field.
- 10+ years-experience with hands-on development of Sustainability programs and system deliverables

About The Position
The Director of Social Responsibility leads the Port's efforts in community relations, social responsibility, and community-focused initiatives. This executive role oversees programs in workforce development and community partnerships, and ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations that advance the Port's mission of equitable economic growth.
