This role is the primary service and maintenance contact for Trane's Rental Service customers in a defined market with a diverse commercial base including Healthcare, Special Events, Education Institutions, and Office Complexes. You will be performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repairing, and starting up HVAC systems in a commercial environment.
In order to perform your task, you will utilize your knowledge of air conditioning theory, pipe fitting, and mechanical layouts. This position affords you the opportunity to work with internal and external partners ranging from temporary facility set ups to in-house overhauls. Communicating with customers and/or Project Managers regarding inspection/service findings is required.

**Where is the work:**
This position has been designated as a **Hybrid** work schedule with work performed onsite 3 days each week.
**What you will do:**
+ Responsible for end to end testing, starting up, commissioning, and servicing on assigned projects.
+ Represents the company by serving as the direct customer contact and is responsible for servicing products and equipment on assigned projects, ensuring customer satisfaction by identifying, analyzing, diagnosing and repairing equipment and systems at customer's location or the Rental Services depot.
+ Coordinates with team leader and customer to precisely understand requirements for all on-site installation and repairs by extensively examining building layouts, forecasting issues, gathering materials and synchronizing on-site work.
+ Uses cutting edge software and technology, along with a variety of hand-tools, following blueprints or engineering specifications, to diagnose and repair units.
+ Continually enforces safety to the highest standards and maintains security and accountability of company issued and procured assets by recording use, wear and conditions.
+ Displays team effort and dedication to customers by maintaining flexibility to work overtime and weeks as the business requires, including occasional overnight stays.
**What you will bring:**
+ A High School Diploma, GED or equivalent experience
+ At least 2-5 years of experience in commercial HVAC; or equivalent combination of education (Technical School) and experience is required.
+ Operating knowledge of Microsoft office software and working proficiency with hand held computer (i.e. Smartphone, iPad).
+ EPA Certification Preferred (e.g. HVAC Journeyman, Boiler Operator, Gas Installer etc.)
**Additional Requirements and Environmental Exposure:**
+ Must be able to safely and legally operate a vehicle using a seat belt
+ Must be able to wear helmets, safety goggles, fall protection harness and safety boots to safely perform job duties
+ Must be able to twist the trunk of your body 90 degrees in each direction
+ Must be able to squat and touch the floor with both hands
+ Must be able to reach your hands over your head
+ Must be able to stand on concrete surfaces for extended periods, routinely up to 4 hours
+ This position is highly physical and requires regular use of hands, fingers, walking, stooping, kneeling and climbing ladders. It requires employees to regularly lift and or move up to 10 lbs., frequently lift and/or move up to 40 lbs. and occasionally lift and/or move more than 40 lbs.
+ Must be able to safely use a ladder with a 375 lb. total weight limit, while carrying equipment of 50 lbs. or less
+ Must be able to maneuver confined access areas, as small as 30" vertical x 45" horizontal
+ Must be able to comfortably and routinely access rooftops with extension and/or fixed ladders at heights of 15' to 20', and occasionally, up to 50 feet + This role may be exposed to variable weather conditions, moving mechanical parts, heights, risk of electrical shock, noisy operating equipment and other variable environmental conditions based on location

+ Develop and close sales opportunities to help grow emergency response rentals, number of cooling contingency plans and to move into non-emergency markets including planned, seasonal and special events rentals.
+ Create and design accurate and timely technical solutions based on the customer's temporary needs and specifications based on existing rental equipment offering.
+ Develop rental quotes from initial request to proposal, to include rental equipment quotes to complete turn-key solution proposals.

+ Serve as the subject matter expert, assisting technicians and/or Service Manager on technical questions, issues, diagnoses, investigations and failure analyses.
+ Manage projects, objectives, and action plans related to the rental service operations functions.
+ Develop and maintain adequate strategies and procedures to measure the efficiency of the service departments.
+ Direct and review job quotes, work orders, work in process, warranty recovery, job closing routines, customer invoicing, management reports, purchase order routines, expenses, overtime, and PIP/PSP programs.
+ Set the standard for quality assurance, ensuring repairs and preventative maintenance are completed in a timely manner; ensure that all employees are properly trained.
+ Analyze and resolve work problems or assist employees in solving work problems.
+ Coach and mentor Service Managers at multiple locations.
+ Collaborate with other departments to enhance cooperation and effective cross-departmental processes.
+ Assist in the development of rebuild practices, parts reusability practices, flat total programs, and general repair level guidelines.
+ Generate, analyze and communicate related reports.
+ Maintain strong working relations with vendors and supply resources.
+ Maintain technical product knowledge.
+ Maintain awareness of departmental budget within scope of responsibility in order to meet or exceed financial goals.
**WHAT YOU'LL NEED:**
+ Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university; or five to ten years' related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
+ Minimum five years' experience with Caterpillar and/or allied equipment product lines required.
+ Proficient analytical, problem-solving, decision making, interpersonal, relationship building, communication, leadership and influencing skills.
+ Intermediate budget management knowledge.
+ Intermediate computer skills for MS Office Suite software.
+ Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
+ Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers.
+ Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
+ Valid Driver's license and clean driving record.

The Rental Technician II (R) is designated as a "Rotational" position that usually works a designated rotating schedule, usually in patterns such as 14 days "on," and 7 days "off" work. The person must travel to and lodge at the assigned work location for the duration of the 14-day work assignment. This position is responsible for providing high quality repair service on equipment, in order to respond to customer needs in a positive, caring and timely manner and to ensure maximum value for work performed.

**WHAT YOU'LL DO:**
+ Complete assigned jobs and tasks within Caterpillar Equipment Repair Labor Guidelines (ERLG) without sacrificing quality and/or safety.
+ Work safely and follow all WCAT safety policies and procedures.
+ Complete related paperwork and access databases required to complete job (work order, parts order, JSA, DBS, SIMS, SIS web, STW) accurately and timely.
+ Follow contamination control and HAZMAT rules and regulations.
+ Remove and install parts, disassemble and assemble components, clean and inspect assemblies with minimal supervision.
+ Understand and apply Cat reusability guidelines.
+ Submit parts and core returns in a timely manner with appropriate documentation.
+ Perform warranty downloads of ECM.
+ Test and verify correct operation of all repairs and adjustments.
+ Apply general failure analysis and procedures to determine proper diagnosis.
+ Complete all Level I & Level II assigned training in a timely and proficient manner.
+ Able to mentor Rental team members.
**WHAT YOU'LL NEED:**
+ Specific CAT product line knowledge of natural gas engines, electrical, electronic, mechanical systems and components to include Preventative Maintenance Services.
+ Position requires basic knowledge of gas/diesel engines and EPG systems and troubleshooting.
+ Proficient use of basic hand tools, air tools, precision measuring tools and instruments, lap tops, diagnostic software and cranes and rigging equipment.
+ This position requires the ability to provide accurate quotes.
+ High school diploma or GED equivalent
+ 2-5 years of related experience
+ (Preferred) Associate's degree/certificate in diesel technology, or similar mechanical discipline.
+ Clean driving record and ability to obtain CDL within 90 days of hire for field assignment.
+ Must be at least 21 to be assigned and operate field vehicle.
+ Successfully complete Work Steps assessment.
+ Will be certified prior to operating a forklift and/or man lift.
